Well naked shorts aren’t delivering the shares that they sold. In effect they are counterfeiting shares. I don’t know how long they can carry on this process without buying to cover. If the company being shorted folds then they never have to worry about it.

To legally short you have to borrow the stock from the margin account of someone who owns it. You deposit 50% of the value of the stock in your own account, and then you receive 100% from the sale of the stock in addition. So your account starts with 150% of the value involved. If you keep the short position open you pay a fee for doing so.

When you cover the short you determine the profit you made, if any. Say you shorted $10,000 of stock, then were able to cover with a purchase of $8,000. You made 2 grand, less fees. The best case, of course, is if the company involved goes BK. Then you cover at zero and keep the whole $10,000.

So shorts have an interest in seeing their target fail. For a large hedge fund targeting a small cap stock, or group of hedge funds acting in concert, this might not be just a dream. The absence of an uptick rule allows them to short without a break. Add in naked shorting and you could beat the shares of a small cap firm into the ground.

The real reason such activity takes place, other than making a buck.

There are at least two kinds of naked short sellers:

1. profiteers

2. coordinated, globalist/Marxofascist manipulators and wealth destroyers at war with America, acting in coordination with numerous other factors, according to a grand strategy/conspiracy. (That's what they do -- see Soros' history, for one thing.)

IMHO, the election of Obama meant moving from the manufactured crisis strategy to the failed state strategy. They want to bring on the Revolution in an America so overloaded with debt and depleted economically, that a semi-corrupt, thus compromised GOP in charge of the White House and Capitol will not be able to correct it in post 2012 America.

Thus, the Republican/capitalist establishment becomes the target of the Revolt.

The solution to be dispensed? Global, UN initiatives.

interesting but i have a different theory: I think the USA is under attack , a sort of economic cold war which is linked to the so-called "war on terror" which was triggered by mercenary action in order to enhance the economic overload on the capitalist structure and shift to socialism,

There is no doubt in my mind that forces are gathered against the very principles that guided the founding fathers.

Some of what they wish to accomplish is obvious, as they no longer seem to fear coming out and expressing their socialist bent.

They are not well organized and include too many diverse groups of “activists” (IMHO, dems with too much time on their hands, and a heap of ignorance and emotion guiding their every step).

Unfortunately their policies and politics have taken over the government, and at the moment they are riding high, but their time is short.

I have always maintained that it is a matter of good over evil, right vs wrong, and not an issue of left vs right politics. Those who’s principles do not conform to what the founders expressed in the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution, are the enemies of Freedom and Liberty and thus enemies of the United States of America.

We can be grateful that so many are now unafraid to express exactly where they are on the scale of right vs wrong, and everyone should be keeping a list of those vocal opponents who choose to bask in the rights privileges and protections of the Constitution of the United States of America while at the same time shouting principles from the house tops, designed to destroy the very freedom and liberty those documents attempt to protect.

Yes leftists, statists, communists, socialists, liberals, progressives, environmentalists, new democrats as compared to old democrats (which would be to the right of todays RINO’s IMHO), you do have freedom, and freedom of speech, but you are also responsible for what you say, and preaching “false doctrine” in government, ought to be treated the same way it is treated in the church.

The present state of affairs, is evidence to me that treason, has been ignored far too long in this country.

I appreciate your observations and agree with most of them. However, Marxists, globalist fascists, New Agers, and even chosen Islamofascists (see Muslim Brotherhood, for example) have demonstrated a very alarming propensity for coordination, and have been working even closer as they have smelled more blood.

They may fight after the revolution, but they intend to work together beforehand.
