I’m very surprised to read this. I know he has young children and his job is quite demanding, which could account for his decision to be more hands-on and work at home. Travelling with a President who never remains more than a day or two at the WH, could be a big factor in his decision. Do you remember when he worked at CNN?

Or possibly to fill-in for the Red Sox?!

Do you mean as a player? LOL!

That actually might make sense... why not? There are still so many Red Sox players on the DL, they may as well hire just about anybody at this point! ;-)

I do miss Tony, and will miss Major, especially since Fox finally got Helens old front row seat.

Oh, I miss Tony every day... :-(

That's a good point about Helen's front row seat. Major finally gets the coveted seat, then leaves FNC! Weird...

What I loved most about Major was when Ronald Reagan died he said that after his day was done, he went home, got his son and brought him back to stand in line at the Capital so that his son could view RR’s casket....he won me heart and soul then....I’ll miss him....

Wow, I didn't know that. How wonderful...

I didn't know anything about his family life, and didn't know he had young children. I think you're probably right about the demanding schedule he now has. Working in print media has got to take less of a toll on his family life.

I very vaguely remember him at CNN. We've had FNC for almost 10 years now. I've barely glanced at CNN or MessNBC since then. ;-)

I hear from Newsbusters.org he want go back to his root at print journalism

I suspect it has more to do with his family life... being a White House correspondent is such a demanding job, with travel and all.

Please see StarFan's post #41...

’ would love to see an organization like the Washington Time’s create a network news outlet for TV...’

That would be nice, but the Times is about one step put of bankruptcy court.

Yes - as a player. Between the on and off field (sound familiar?) injuries, they need warm bodies!

Good call on ‘The Vineyard’! And BTW, ‘The Vineyard’ can't hold a candle to Nantucket, although I personally have no use for either or Cape Cod as a whole; give me Cape Ann any day of the week.

I suspect his return to his print journalism roots is more a return to his liberal roots.

All the times I heard Garrett guest on the Laura Ingraham show he sounded pretty staunch conservative to me. I bet Laura would take issue with that remark.

I hope he is conservative and continues to be fair in his reports. I noticed a distinct change in Garrett when he covered the Obama campaign. He seemed to be caught up in the “Hope and Change.” I was disappointed. However, he didn’t seem to be as enamored with Obama when he became a WH correspondent, which was good.

If I’m wrong, so be it. I’ll gladly eat crow. Feel free to serve it up. :)

Not looking for you to eat crow. If he made you question his political leanings during his reporting then I’d saw he was doing a good job. It’s different when you give him a chance to provide commentary. But that’s not what you do when reporting from the WH lawn.
