As House Ways and Means Committee chairman, Mr. Rostenkowski was known as a consensus builder and a master of legislative tactics. He is credited with leading a 1983 effort to rescue Social Security from insolvency and pushing through a sweeping 1986 overhaul of the nation's tax systemCompare and constrast with the Obit for Ted Stevens.

This doesn’t seem like a good year to be an elderly politician. So far, this year we’ve lost Ted Kennedy, Robert Byrd, John Murtha, Ted Stevens, and now Dan Rostenkowski.

At least he can now join other distinguished democrats in the nether regions.

Body language experts would read that self-embrace as a clear indicator of narcissistic personality disorder.

His congressional district has also blessed us with Blago and Rahm-bo.

Let me guess. Rostenkowski was a pillar of integrity while Stevens was Mr. Bridge to Nowhere.
