And there we have it.
You can be running down the road using "RINO" to mean "Liberal" or "Leftwingtard" or "Moonbat" or ..............
I guess it depends on how much clever language you want to throw away on bad rubbish.
Earth to muawiyah, earth to muawiyah...
Planet earth calling muawiyah...
You are NOT going to change the usage of the word RINO with your pontifications.
Please, muawiyah, if you receive this message, acknowledge.
Over.
Look, your misuse of the term is little more than a failing of the public school system.
If you mean LIBERAL use that term. If you mean LEFTWINGTARD then use that one. Or, if you mean LEFTARD, use that, but please, please, please, don't misuse RINO.
What's really going on here is that DEAL was a RINO who turned up out of the ranks of Democrat professional politicians from the Conservative direction. No doubt you've forgotten that there used to be Conservative Democrats, but there were. It would not have been correct to term him a LIBERAL, but it certainly was proper to note that he was a RINO, and as so many have said "Once a RINO, always a RINO".
We also have some who want to PURGE all RINOs. That's fine if you think they're all Leftwingtards, but what about that handful of Souvrn' Conservatives who used to caucus with the Democrats? This Deal guy is one of 'em. He's a RINO. And as Newt can tell you he served his purpose by swapping the caucus who belonged to and voting for a Republican for Speaker. We took legislative control and saved the Republic for a time.
I see no benefit whatsoever in distorting the meaning of a word just to cover up the fact that we had a bunch of Freepers decide they wanted to back a RINO in Jawja! There were other Freepers who were backing the woman.
Notice it was a tight race ~ down to just hundreds of votes in a big turnout and that's far more important.
I’m not convinced. If they’re liberal Republicans they’re RINOs to me. And to a lot of other people, too. You’re not going to change that. Sorry.
You know, you could sue. Sue everybody who uses the term RINO “improperly”.
Please. I’ll go get my popcorn.
He was never a registered Democrat nor did he run as a Democrat. He's not even all that Liberal in a doctrinaire sense so it's difficult to cram him in under that label, and it would certainly be inapropriate to call him a RINO.
The current mayor, Bloomberg, was a big Democrat donor and ran as a Republican, then jumped out of the Republican label.
He's still a RINO ~ remember "once a RINO, forever a RINO".
He's also a Leftwingtard, and now he's even into treason peddling the powers of his political office to feather his financial nests in foreign countries, most particularly Moslem dominated foreign countries.
Nobody. Is. Going. To. Pay. Attention. To. Your. Distinctions.
When a RINO makes the news, he’s going to be called a RINO (by conservatives) and no one is going to go back to your playbook of terms-analysis and study the question of whether or not he’s “really” a RINO.
Why can’t you see that?
I see that quite clearly, and so do others.
Time to give it up. If you did any research on the net you'd have found that I already covered the situation where we had Conservative Southern Democrats turning into RINOs. It's nothing new. Now it's become a big deal to you guys because you don't want us to know how Deal ended up in Republican politics.
BTW, I still wouldn't trust him.
I actually supported Handel.
But whoever I support in this election has nothing to do with my discussion with you, which is over terminology, not over specific candidates.
You have more patience than I do!! Good luck with this person... I have thrown up my hands in dispair and disgust as there seems to be no reasoning with him.
You might try a definition : "The term implies that, despite party affiliation, RINO politicians are not "authentic" Republicans. The label is usually acquired because a politician's political actions, policies, positions on certain issues or voting records are considered to be at variance with some part of the Republican party platform. [1]
I have vowed to stop replying or trying to "reason" with him as one cannot reason with the unreasonable.... [edit]
Thanks for the post, Momto2, and that’s a great definition, one that most of us instinctively use without spelling it out as clearly as you just did. It’s not a difficult term to understand... you just have to not over-think it.
As for patience, first of all, this issue I’ve been arguing isn’t a very emotional one. I mean really, what do I care if someone thinks all of us are “using the wrong word”? So what?
So I’m not heavily invested in the argument, which makes it easy to stay calm.
But beyond that, I’ve learned that it’s best to always remind yourself, whenever you start to get upset over something someone posted to you, or some name they may have called you... it’s best to remind yourself: they are just words on a screen.
That’s all they are, words on a screen.
Then you step back, think of a response you want to make, and calmly make it.
Now, I’m not saying I always do that. Sometimes I get steamed and type too fast. But I try, Momto2, I try.
And again, thanks.
