“...the Obamas have taken more trips and vacations...”

Remember how Nancy Regan was CONDEMNED for buying new china for the WH?

Remember how Bush I was DERIDED for not knowing how the new-fangled supermarket scanner machines worked?

Remember how Bush II was DEFAMED for spending August at his OWN HOME in Texas?

Can you imagine, can you even conceive, of how a REPUBLICAN first lady would be treated by the media if she decamped for the Costa del Sol with an entourage of two score while MILLIONS OF AMERICANS ARE FACING FORECLOSURE AND STAND HUNGRY ON THE UNEMPLOYMENT LINES?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

MICHELLE ANTOINETTE OBAMA MMM MMM MMM MMM MMM!

“Bo deplaned at 10:59 and got lifted into a black SUV a few minutes later. Marine One lifted off at 11:03 pm as Bo looked on from back seat of SUV.”
- A favorite line from WaPo Nia-Malika Henderson’s Pool Report #10 on Thursday. Bo, President Obama’s Portuguese Water Dog is spotted exiting AF1 at Andrews Air Force Base.

I discussed the WaPo article that defends them and expectedly, uses Bush's Crawford ranch excursions as a measuring stick...

What people don't really get is that living a “VIP/Playa” life on the taxpayers is not looked down upon in certain communities. “Getting yours” is what is seen as very visible signs of prosperity, wealth and stature, and is revered in many minority cultures, and nouveau riche circles, too.

Showy wealth is to be envied, and as logical folks see their net worths dwindle and every dime hard to earn, most of the people impressed are effectively wards of the state anyways, even if they are working in a government position.

I don't want this to come off as a racist post, but look at the high profile minority stars and celebrities, it's all flash and glitz...Benz, champagne, women...look at any rap video and it's always the same MO...

Most salt of the earth people of all stripes find this repulsive and very Marie Antoinette-ish, but there is a hip-hop-type element that thinks ostentatious lifestyles are not only cool, but enviable.

My first vacation in awhile was shortened by a day due to work issues, and I stayed in town for the other four due to lack of funds. I’m so glad to be subsidizing their vacations, though. Makes me feel patriotic all over.

The meek inherit the earth while the wicked burn, though. It’s a matter of perspective.
