Kudos to him for wanting to try. Recent history suggests a very uphill battle, and Wyclef has precious little political experience (ie the rampant corruption there). Can he save them? Verdicts out, doesn't look good, but he has a shot at bringing it more attention (ie money for rebuilding) and maybe stabilizing things.

Aristide's Lavalas party, barred from the election, has jumped on the residency issue and is painting Jean as a puppet of U.S. interests and the business elite.

Yeah, Aristide was such a savior of Haiti's poor./s LOL, Aristide is such a 'saint', he's no puppet of the US - it's his own interests and wealth above all else.
