one more thing, it's a little known secret about white men voters (not male but men), they need motivation to get to the polls because they so often see through the bs of establishment candidates. If you give a white man a reason to vote for you he will come out in droves. I would say Scott Brown was a good example. If you keep running the same old retread alot of white men wont even bother showing up. They're the untapped voting block.

You are exactly right. The GOP doesn’t do itself any favors buy blurring differences. Where is a voter to go if they don’t believe the bs about climate change, or believe in cutting govt and spending? The Democrats are very clear where they stand. The GOP leadership instead wants to leave wiggle room for everything and it doesn’t make them look smart or nice it turns off people who don’t respond well to double speak and then those people like you said aren’t motivated to vote.

...a referendum on incumbent Democrat Patty Murray with two Republican candidates edging past her this month... Republican hopefuls Dino Rossi and Clint Didier both earning 48% ... Less than 10% of voters in both cases prefer some other candidate in the race or are undecided.

VERY huge. I’ll bet there are some other surprises lurking out there (Wisconsin’s Feingold being pressed?)
