But it still has to be approved in the Congress....
the bill will be stuck in limbo as Congress takes a weeklong summer break.
99 weeks is enough time to get a two year A.A. degree. WTF?
Who voted for the break? Who sets the schedule? Remember this when Pelosi and Obama whine and blame the Republicans. The Dems set the schedule. The Dems decided to take a break without addressing this issue.
HAHA !
And what good will the two year A.A. degree be good for?
WTF...?
If it’s an A.A. in how to gouge the govt for taxpayer money it may pay pretty damn good. Those “retroactive benefit” checks going back to May will be some hefty pay days. Pay days for sitting on one’s arse, mind you.
“HAHA !

WTF...?”
An RN is a two year program, in my area.
Makes about $100,000. Haha wtf
How about you? Why knock others trying to get along?
You really just can’t keep paying people NOT to work! I understand a reasonable time, but even during economic hard times, money does run out. It does have to stop sometime - and really, 99 weeks is a really long time...
No wonder unemployment figures do not improve. they no longer look for work because “They do not need the money”, thanks to all these workmen comp extensions! Don’t be surprised to learn that many are playing the system like they were taught to do in higher ed!
And do what with it? You know how many unemployed college grads are out there living with their parents?
There are right now 6 applicants for every job opening. College degree aint going to help you much.
Not for long. The government is invading healthcare. That industry is next to tank.
Well it also applies to anyone who’s getting federal benifits, even the first tier when runs out at 26 weeks.
Very True!
40 weeks is enough time if that is all your doing.
>> extended unemployment benefits ... would retroactively pay out claims to those who saw their benefits expire ...
Who funds the extended benefits?
Obama’s stash.
What do you mean?? :o)

Yes, I don’t know what I was thinking... I should listen to our beloved Speaker - after all, she is just trying to create jobs... (Was a very good video by the way). If only we could give her a brain.
It is actually an insurance policy. I contribute and my employer contributes. Anyone that has drawn unemployment knows it is actually a pretty rotten deal.
If I could invest that money myself along with my employers share paid for me, I could do a lot better.
I think of the extension this way. During an unusually troubling time for people looking for work, the unemployment insurance they paid for is paying out. Those payments may now be in excess of the insurance policy limits, but they are likely still lagging behind what I could have done for myself.
Are we complaining that the government is actually offering a less-than dismal rate of return on a government mandated insurance policy?
What is the HR number?
I would like to see what the actual bill contains.
