Who is this “we” that Clinton is referring to?
Clinton is assuming that President Barry wants to stop the oil spill and save the Gulf Coast. Barry’s action, or shall I say inaction, says differently.
Well, under *those* circumstances, yes, I'd risk trying the nuke.
The Russian nuke was of a gas site on the surface. Oil and gas at the depth of the BP well is far more problematic. Such as controlling ignition. The well may or may not collapse. This may make it difficult of impossible to stop if a nuke fails.
Reminds me of Clinton’s plan to distribute free condoms in Africa to stop AIDS.

In the film There Will be Blood, they had a well that blew and kept spewing oil in the air (and it was on fire) and they put it out by blowing the well up, filling the hole with dirt and rock.
So I’m not sure Clinton’s idea is all that far fetched. It was what I was thinking about for weeks and weeks now. Not sure if will work but I do view this spill as a national emergency and a threat to national security. The fact that the White House hasn’t done much at all except shake down BP is pretty appalling. We needed to take charge of it a long time ago, declared it a national emergency, and put the civil defense authorities in charge.
The fact that we haven’t can be construed as ‘punishment’ to the states that didn’t vote for this Administration.

I’m sure they will try this scenario if the relief wells fail, which I have no confidence in succeeding. However I think the many Freepers here who think this spill is no big deal and will be stopped and cleaned up soon are living in ignorance. I live under the predisposition that God is in control and theres a time coming when this present planet we reside on will be destroyed and be remade. The sunshine and lollipop people need to be a little more realistic on there way of thinking. There’s a real possibility that they will not be able to stop this gusher, the ramifications of this will be disasterous.
After blowing up the hole, clinton says a large pile of rocks will have to be placed over the hole.

Considering that the eco-socialists have all been complaining about the need for population control because of global warming, shouldn't they all volunteer to go down there to "plug" the hole up? They could send the entire roster of the Bilderbergers, Council on Foreign Relations, Rockefeller Foundation, Harvard Law faculty, NARAL, George Soros Open Society Institute, and Planned Parenthood to see if they could plug the leak (to "heal the planet"). While at the same time, removing the carbon footprint from their McMansions, Volvos, and private jets. It's a win-win. Considering the hysteria of their population control demands, Peter Singer and Al Gore should volunteer for the voyage.
I’m still leaning toward nuking it, if they can’t get some sort of compression fitting down there and around it. If you could get a sleeve over it, tighten down some sort of bladder or compression fitting, then you could pump it to the surface fairly easily. Otherwise, they’re going to have to seal it. I don’t think a nuke would collapse the dome, but it is worrisome that it’s a seismically active and unstudied area. It’s suspected to be connected to the New Madrid fault, from what I’ve read, and setting off a quake on that line would be disastrous. I also suspect there might be a chance of fracturing the area, much like the atoll tests did, and then you’d have the worry of oil and gas leaking uncontrolled to the surface. I’m no expert, but somebody better do something to stop it or slow it down dramatically pretty quick. If not, the Gulf is going to take forever to recover, and tourism and fishing will be dead in the water for years and years.

Bill Clinton isn't an expert at this sort of thing. He probably read the same articles I found. (I ain't no expert, either.)
I wish I had gone into the Navy instead of the Army. I'd have liked subs. My high school physics/chemestry teacher was a retired sub skipper. He skippered S-1. He also helped convert the German Type XXIs to service in our Navy. He really loved those type XXIs.
