Yea Reagan was a Democrat once but not by 1989.
In 84 Perry ran the MONDALE campaign in Texas against Reagan and in 88 supported Gore in the primaries! F***ing GORE!!
The good thing about Perry however is that he will support ANY position to get elected.

Perry has clearly said he’s not going to run for President. This fuss is fed by White & Thursday Dems, not anything Perry has said.

What would be wrong with running Rick Perry? He's socially and fiscally conservative. Texas is one of the few states that actually gives more than lip service to conservative principles.
And the Republican party could not be so lame-brained as to nominate the aging serial-spouse, Newt Gingrich.
2012 is shaping up to be a cakewalk for Republicans. May God keep them from shooting themselves in the foot.
