Barton should have refused to fold, let them strip his ranking member status from him and used the issue to campaign among the scores of new GOP members who will be coming in in January to overthrow the spineless Boehner/Cantor axis and either run for Speaker himself or back a real conservative.
Bonner is my congressman. He is doing exactly what we his constituents expect of him. I voted to re-elect him June 1st. I stand by my vote.
Because of course if Bonner had defended Barton it wouldn’t have hurt his popularity and he’d still be able to get elected to things in South Alabama? Right?
Bonner did the right thing. He stated what we all feel. I have supported Barton since 2002, I supported Sonny even before I became a Republican and I supported Jack before that.
Jo Bonner represents the part of Alabama where all the oil is coming on the beaches and Jeff Miller represents a part of Florida that is right next to that part of Alabama and oil is coming on the beaches there too.
I can’t see why there is so much anger directed at them. They are doing exactly what their constituents expect of them.
I’ve been very disgusted in the past.
My point was this was the first time I had a physical reaction.
