After 30 to 45 minutes, that girl was probably very tired, and possibly suffering from hypothermia. The guide was right to save her, or at least prevent her from washing further downstream.

“Bruising the egos of government workers on official business”. That is risky.

I guess I'll join the minority on this one. What if the guide had jumped in and ended up in trouble himself? Then there would have been two people in need of rescue. He defied an order from a law enforcement officer.

The rescuer just needs one real American on the jury. I would acquit, regardless of the judge’s instructions.

Bureaucracy gone mad.
But then NYC has been known to have firefighters and police officers fighting over who is in charge of an emergency.

And if the rafting employees had just sat on their haunches and done nothing but wait for "government employees" and the girl drowned, they'd probably get charged for something else. Either way they are probably going to get sued for the raft flipping over and causing pain and suffering, blah, blah, blah.
It's a shame we live in a culture where one is dammed if they do and dammed if they don't. We live in a culture where we have to second guess ourselves to think out a hypothetical scenario before we take any action.

I hope the girl’s parents sues the County for “hindering a hero while performing above and beyond the call of duty”.

Only unionized government employees are qualified to do anything, ever. Your job is to be obedient and hand over what ever portion of your wages they want.

This sounds exactly like what Obama says and does in response to emergencies. His indecisiveness is spreading down and giving locals cover for their own cowardice and inaction.

It's not about who is in charge. It's about the safety of a 13-year-old girl. It's about government bureaucracy to the bureaucrats.
They're so out of touch, it's disgusting.

I hope Rahm doesn’t read about this. Next thing you know they’ll wait until BP plugs the leak and then sue them on grounds that BP interfered with President Obama’s responsibility to deal with the situation. They’ll claim that but for BP, Obama could have done it better, faster, cheaper (and if you don’t believe that, he’ll kick your ass).
