It is not a renaisance. It is the mark of a non-productive area. little pansy shops mean nothing and contribute nothing but low end jobs at best.

Waiters, short order cooks, and junk/art dealers who work for slave wages mean nothing to the nation’s standing in the world.

It is just a mark of a dead city walking.

What is it about homosexuals and water?

Need a quick liquid emergency path exit should a little fiery Sodom and Gomorrah eruption occur! It's genetic survival adaptation after all. (:

So which one is the King and which is the Queen?

I have a friend whose daughter decided in her 20s that she was gay. She "married" her, um, girlfriend. . .? Anyway, she told me her "daughter in law" called one day and asked her if she was a Mrs. She told her, "If you don't know, I'm sure I don't."

“One of the hardest parts of the experience, the boys said, was deciding who would be king and who would be queen.”

I used two brain cells with this one : A Queen is a WOMAN.

Those two brain cells fought valiantly, but I’m afraid they are too poisoned to return to the rest of my brain and the usual thoughts I process on a daily basis since I was born. The brain cells are now walking away, on a self-imposed gulag into the hot, hot desert.

Perhaps these kids should spend more time absorbing even BASIC studies and less time finding new and recursively offensive orifices to stick their willy.

“When I was that age, I lost a tooth - not my virginity.”

Just think about it. When the students meet each other at their 10th or 20th year reunion they’ll ask about the two prom queens and find out they have AIDS/HIV and a whole host of other diseases or have already died from them.

Sorry pal, you don’t know much about Hudson, or for that matter upstate New York if you blame its former woes on “heterosexuals”.

In fact Hudson has suffered the same woes the entire Rust Belt has. Are you suggesting Detroit and Cleveland and Erie etc can all be restored by having homosexuals come in and open antique shops?

C’mon...

(I was most recently in Hudson last Saturday at a bar called Melino’s having a beer watching the Yankees/BlueJays 14 inning marathon... make that “several beers”)

Did they vote for them as a joke because it’s so ridiculous?
I can’t imagine anyone seriously thinking that would be a good idea. Maybe they can vote on how many months or years it will take them to get AIDS next.

Yeah you're right -- Hudson was much better when there were no jobs, except for prostitution, illegal drug sales, and delivering bag money for corrupt politicians. And I pine for the days when every other building on Warren Street was boarded up and falling down, and a person couldn't walk a block without tripping over a homeless person or getting panhandled or even worse, getting rolled. Yessirre, those were to good old days.

BTW, many of the "pansy shops" are located in buildings that were once abandoned and on the verge of collapse. The gay people who brought these buildings and the buildings where they now live paid a 6% real estate commission and/or back taxes to the County, as well as hundreds of thousands of dollars to local architects, engineers, and contractors to rehabilitate these buildings. The contractors hired construction workers and subcontractors, and brought materials, equipment, and supplies from local lumber shops, hardware stores, etc., and their employees spent some of the money they earned at the local deli, restaurants, and taverns, all of which produced jobs that previously did not exist. And while you may characterize these jobs as "low end," a low end job is better than no job at all and often leads to bigger and better things.

We live in such a sick world. The boy is wearing a tiara and holding roses for Christ's sake.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the “other” articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.

The problem with the Gay Wealth communities is that

1. They have to constantly recruit new residents. Gay couples don’t have a much better rate of staying together than non-gay and most males are not monagamous anyway. The females stay together but are very much into chemicals (my sister is one of them). They don’t attract long term families. Mostly young hetero single and gay people buy in their shops. Great now while it’s cool, but one day being gay will be just run of the mill and no one will drive to get their goods.

2. They won’t work for low wages and employ those who hang in those areas but are not gay. Families of drug dealers and the like. The surrounding area falls fast. So what you have is a tiny downtown area surrounded by blight.

Lakewood, Ohio is a great example (and also on a lake). Give it about 10 years and you’ll see. Lakewood was fun when I was young and it was cool to be there. Now the blight is quickly closing in.

The Zombie Walk in Asbury is completely apropos. Watching them come through the ruins of the casino and the now-empty merry-go-round house, with the waves crashing in the background, is surreal. Why did they sell the carrousel and why didn’t they save the casino, if they wanted to do something? We have enough stuffed potato skins and mozzarella sticks already.
