The writer of this article fails to note how racing is one of the ways new discoveries are made concerning aerodynamics, suspension, and gasoline consumption. Idiot.
To: Lazamataz
I tell ya, it seems that way.

It's just a wasteful, reckless, unnecessary, ozone-destroying exerciseSo is your breathing, Mr. Chad. So take one for the team and off yourself, then.

This guy seems like a parody of liberal sportswriters.
Surely, he can’t be serious.
I want people like this guy out of my country.

It used to be ordinary people could soup up the Dodge in their own garage and head for the track. Now unless you have multinational conglomerates paying the freight, you cant afford to get any closer to the track then the stadium seats. Nonsense. There are lots of racing series that are relatively inexpensive. Dirt track racing with Street Stocks or Pure Stocks is pretty much what you describe ("soup up the Dodge in their own garage").
Even Legends is not out of reach of someone with a reasonable income.

He probably agrees with Peter Singer's thoughts; posted here today.
Basically humans should just all kill their selves so we are not a burden to the planet.

Yeah, much better to have the fine air quality of those nations that don't waste time with major auto racing circuits... like China...

Or India...

NASCAR has the carbon footprint of a brontosaurus. Yeah. And Kevin Harvick has the brains of one.

What a homo. LOL
I think you summarized what the rest of us were basically saying in a more roundabout way. :-)

Heh. At the time I posted that, I had not had any coffee yet, so let’s blame that.
I am nothing if not succinct at times! ;^)

(I often look back on thriving ancient civilizations as a guidepost to proper living. And in 4th century B.C. China, you never heard. ''Gentlemen, start your rickshaws.'') Rickshaws were first used in China in the late 19th century.
That aside, man has been racing anything he can race for as long as history has been recorded. Check the Iliad.

China has no excuse, but I will say in India’s defense that the rainy season in a monsoon climate will put more than a little haze into the air. Yes, air quality sucks there, but there’s a big humidity component there too.

Last Sunday, they ran the Coca-Cola 600 and the Indianapolis 500. That's about 1,100 unnecessary miles of tire treads wearing thin. Why is it that progressives of all stripes feel qualified to define what is necessary and unnecessary for others? What makes this writer think he's necessary to 99.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of humanity?
