Without reading through the comments, I'm sure several posters have already said....."Duh, what's coming out of da hole den.....duh". That's the fluid (it's called mud, but that isn't what it really is) they are using to keep pressure on the well.

But don't jump for joy yet people, mud is highly abrasive, so now it is a race against the clock to keep pressure on the leak, not blow the BOP or manifold to pieces or erode them to the point of uselessness and pump cement down hole.

Reporting from Houma, La. Engineers have succeeded in stopping the flow of oil and gas into the Gulf of Mexico from a gushing BP well, the federal government's top oil spill commander, Adm. Thad Allen, said Thursday morning.

This seems to still be the same report we've had since fairly early this morning. And, as several have said here, the supposedly live underwater video shows something still gushing into the water.
