How about we cut 25% of the bureaucrats?

Do I hear 45%. Many departments could be eliminated. And the healthcare nipped in the bud. I'll takes my chances with the new guns in town.

That would be the RAT infested big city states vs the good parts of America.

How it is divided up is irrelevant. How conservative a state is is defined by who makes up the population. If the Conservatives all moved to Massachusetts and the Liberals all left, it would be the most Conservative state around.

Would we be able to build a wall/fence on the borders?

We could, but it probably wouldn't be as necessary as it is now. It's the welfare state attracting people that don't pull their own weight that causes the most problems.

Heck even if we couldn’t cut out welfare we could merge all of the welfare programs into one bureaucracy and fire the rest. Probably save tens of billions on that alone.

Won’t work. Libs need our money. They’re not going to let us go.

I doubt that. I see them being just as frustrated having to put up with us, as we are with having to put up with them.

Did you catch the last paragraph? Voters are cranky now because the economy stinks, unemployment is high, Washington is out of touch, and the usual Beltway dickering for political advantage does nothing to improve the nation's fortunes. But amid this discontent, Washington is still giving voters a free ride by offering services and subsidies that will have to be paid for in the future—by the same people who are recipients of the largesse today. When that bill comes due, Washington will have no choice but to ask taxpayers for more, give them less, and try to explain why sacrifices are suddenly necessary.

I hate too admit it but this country is so far gone I don’t think there is anyway to save it.We have a President who is allowing our country to be overrun with people from Mexico and other nations south of the Rio Grand.

We have this same clown Importing more people from the Middle east who have one thing on their mind and that’s to Impose Sharia law on us.

We have a Military spread out all over the world while we are being bled white spending wise because of NO Energy Policy.

What are we to DO?Conservative commentators on the Right say just wait and vote all of the Liberal’s and RINO’s Out of office.

I think pretty soon Obama’s going to get his amnesty bill and our vote is going to be trashed by the vote of thirty million aliens who will gladly put the One back in the white House.

What will we do then?

These AHs in D.C. have no idea...

At some point, I bet they’ll get the message.

The country has not been this polarized since 1860-61. And I think that any reconciliation at this point is not only unlikely, but probably impossible. There are dark days ahead, but I am confident our side will prevail in the end. But it will be nasty getting there.

I'd rather see an amicable divorce where we simply part ways, than to have one side or the other win by killing off the other side.

As highly unlikely as that may be - it could be a real fix to the current problems. Too bad that it won’t happen though = too many conflicts.

It could happen if enough people become convinced it's the best alternative.

It does seem that the coasts see things a bit differently than the middle of the country. Since that happens, maybe a more reasonable approach would be division into three parts. East Coast, West Coast, and Middle America. Talk about differences...heh.

The big cities are liberal in conservative states, and the outstate areas are relatively conservative in liberal states. If we just divide the country at the Mississippi and flip a coin for who gets to choose their side, it would work. Everybody then gets to choose which new country they're going to be a citizen of. I'll go to the Conservative country, regardless if where it is geographically.

Just so long as NO REGISTERED DEMOCRATS (as of 2008) are allowed in this new country, I’m game.

Well, if that were to happen, I would be ecstatic. Not likely to happen though - division of the country was tried before with drastic results. Sounds like an idea though...

Maybe things have changed so much (differences between sections of the country) that it might be possible...heh.

The bloodiness of the previous conflict could be an incentive toward getting people to agree to doing it peacably this time.

Perversely, I think the only way out of the present mess may be to adopt a plank of looney George McGovern’s 1972 campaign platform: a guaranteed minimum income.

We simultaneously abolish Social Security and every poverty program currently running, together with their bureaucracies, and replace them with a program that simply sends biweekly checks based on household size (counting only citizens and permanent residents, the latter only if the household includes at least one citizen and the permanent resident is related by blood or marriage) to every household in the country.

The amount of the check would be calibrated so that if everyone in the household between the ages of 16 and normal retirement age worked at least a 20 hour/week minimum wage job, the household would be at 110% of the poverty level.

Oh, the checks are taxable income—tweak the exemption amount and/or standard deduction downward (not tax rates upward) to make it revenue neutral, if the lower overhead with all the poverty bureaucrats having to find honest work and no benefits going to illegal immigrants doesn’t already make it revenue neutral or better.

Milton Friedman pointed out that a plan of this sort is the only sort of income redistribution that doesn’t produce perverse incentives, and, alas, it’s politically infeasible to just outright abolish our current income redistribution programs, so replacing them all with a cheap-to-run one that doesn’t encourage sloth seems like a major net gain.

Besides that, repeal Obamacare and replace it with laws that tax advantage high-deductible health insurance and self-insurance (cf. John Mackey’s proposals), abolish the Dept. of Education, including reprivatizing the student loan industry, and shave veterans benefits by part (not all—our veterans deserve better) of the amount the vets are getting through the guaranteed minimum income program.
While we’re at it, cut all NSF education programs and “climate science” programs—put half the savings into the sort of basic scientific research the NSF was created to fund (the market does a fine job of funding applied research), and keep the other half as savings.

And, clean house on regulations that are a drag on economic productivity so as to increase the tax base. Finally cut the capital gains rate, and tax rates generally (supply side works). (And oblige the CBO to estimate supply-side effects in scoring the cost or revenue value of legislation: the static way it’s done now is complete BS.)

Amnesty won't happen with our new congress. And it won't get voted on by November. IMHO

Yeah, if you look at recent presidential election map, you can pretty much pick out the cities and border areas...all blue.

I doubt you can find many or any Republican controlled cities.

If the Conservatives all moved to Massachusetts and the Liberals all left, it would be the most Conservative state around.

And if the moon were made of cheese.

Unfortunately all that needs to be done is for the politicians to lie their rear ends off, print more money, propagandize how great the economy is doing, hide the inflation (impoverishment) by declaring deflation and manipulating the relevant economic algorithms, saturate the tube with sports fiascos, hang the fear of environmental disaster constantly over the peasants, throw in a war crisis or two, and things will work out fine.

How hard is that?

And if the moon were made of cheese.

If they made the eastern half of the USA into the new Conservative country, the people that want to be citizens of the Conservative States of America will move there, and the liberals will emigrate to wherever the Progressive States of America is.

No.

What makes you think any self respecting conservative would even think about moving into a filthy corrupt crowded city?

Cities are inherently Communist. A city is a commune.
