If alive(Polk, Jackson), they would probably immediately challenge the idiot Gore to a duel.

Duels were only done by social equals.

Gore would rate just a harsh caning.

Read: 1856 caning of anti-slavery Senator Charles Sumner by pro-slavery Congressman Preston Brooks

I'dd even spring for the Gutta-percha cane

If the US had never gone west of the Mississippi River we today would have patrol boats to stop the flow of illegal aliens into the eastern states.

So true.

Mexico's problem isn't we took basicly uninhabitable desert and mountains and turned it into a prosperous land

Mexico never reflected the ideals that made the "Unidos de Estatos" the superpower it is today.

Mexico has stumbled from autocratic Spain to socialist tyranny and oligarchy of a few families and heading to anarchy "rule"of drug lords.

The thought they are slowly turning America into another Socialist Mexico(Overwhelming the capitalist gringos)creating the disaster they are fleeing from, has never occurred to their radical Marxist heads....

Go figure.

Jackson “hated” the Indians so much that he adopted one as his own son.

Jackson continued the long tradition of reneging on previous Indian treaties. Thousands of Indians perished during the forced relocations.

Of course the Trail of Tears certainly was not a highpoint, but I still think the greatness of Jackson is that he created the Manifest Destiny that led to us taking as much as we could of North America.

Jackson retired after serving as President in 1837. The Manifest Destiny, at least as a term, was evidently created by a New York journalist in 1839.

I didn’t say he invented the term Manifest Destiny. He instigated the belief that we shall overcome most of the Continent westward. - Jeez talk about clutching at straws.
