I don't like the endorsements either. But, I also don't think one should ever be beholden to any organized political group- and that includes the Tea Party. The liberalization of the GOP has turned me off trusting any organized political movement, grassroots or otherwise. While I appreciate their efforts and support them, I certainly would never vote for someone just because they're endorsed by the Tea Party.
As for what constitutes a conservatives conservative, that's also up for debate. For me, if you follow these four pillars of conservatism (based on that kid Jonathan Krohn's book), I'll listen to you:
1. Respect for human life
2. Belief in minimalist government
3. Insistence on personal responsibility
4. Respect for our military
5. Respect for our Constitution
These are non-negotiable for me. Sarah, as well as a few other great potential candidates, have these qualities. Its the other stuff folks tend to squabble over. And that's fine because we'll all have our personal preferences, and likely dismiss candidates who don't adhere to our wants.
But expecting perfection sets yourself up for continual disappointment. Guess I'm more of a realist than anything.
Sorry, forgot to proof that post. Its too late to multitask between emails and FR!
Well said. I have friends who worked for HP. If Fiorina was running against Satan they’d be hard put to know which one to vote for.
