A BTT for the evening crew. Yeah, the thing about Nietzsche was really a little tragic. He was obviously disturbed by the conviction that his people had given up on God, and that as a consequence God did not actually exist. And what he grasped at was the notion that somehow Man would fill that terrible gulf. It was an illusion, IMHO, but he wasn't the first to cling to it. "And ye shall be as Gods," went the first of all lies.
But in simple point of fact God is not Tinkerbelle, and His existence is not a function of human vanity, but of fact. One can either recognize it, doubt it, or deny it, but none of that changes it.

Called it pretty close, didn’t I? But seriously, who could have known about 0bama then? Thing is, the trends were there for all to see.
Just didn’t really know how it was going to play out.

Thanks for the ping, and truly so.
Noumenon, nice work. It especially resonates with me, as your C.S. Lewis quote already lived on my profile page, and I’ve been throwing Rummel in the faces of Leftists for years now.

I’d nominate this for a CWII ping. This is really a philosophical history of how we got to our current state. Or State.

Very Good. More concise, even, than Veith’s “Modern Fascism”, which is also a good read and lays out manyof the same points. Thanks for putting this together.

Rummmel is like kryptonite to leftist Ubermensch wanna-bes. Guaranteed to provoke name-calling within 10 seconds.

Haven't read Veith. I'll check it out. Just got Jamie Glazov's United in Hate. Stunning, even in the first few pages.

I often bring him up in the context of “those evil European Christians were mass murderers” type statements. And yes, you are right, the response is just precious 95+% of the time.

Distressingly excellent.
It’s been said that the human race can be divided into two parts - those who want to tell others how to live their lives, and those who have no such desire.
In the former group are obviously the great monsters of the 20th Century, but also, not so obvious, all around us, are the petty tyrants of the HOA Board of Directors who decree you can’t park your pickup truck in front of your house, the cop who got his underwear run up the flagpole in junior high and now likes to “lord over” everyone he would like to consider his inferior, the city councilman who trys to outlaw putting non-lawn furniture on the front porch, and so on.

I really hope the wheels don’t come off for a few more years....I hope we “muddle through.” I hope.

I think we’re out of time. My estimate is that the deal’s going down before the November elections. They’re not just going to shrug and walk away, not when the’re on the cusp of achieving absolute power.

If they try anything that puts off the elections, the “awkward time” will be over.

Yes, I believe that would do it. That’s why I think that trouble’s inevitable. They’ve backed themselves into a corner, haven’t they?

I think that there are many centripetal forces in our society working to pull us apart along many weak fault lines. Race, ideology etc etc.
If and when our economy “goes Argentina” is when we will see the volcano explode.

Can't be holding elections in the middle of a race-war now, can we?

Eight years along and the opposition is playing out its role to the hilt.
The good news is that we've never seen so many wide-awake people in this country.

Pray. Pray that there are enough of us to resist the juggernnaut of modern evil that’s headed our way. We don’t have much time.
