Samaritan’s Purse is a terrific, Christian relief agency that I can recommend without reserve. It’s headed by Dr. Franklin Graham, of “we don’t want you to speak at the Pentagon for National Day of Prayer” fame.
Somebody's opinion, anyway.
They can’t blame Bush? And where’s Tipper, Al, and the Democrat Governor?
Only our basement flooded in ‘08 - we were lucky. Quite a few of our friends did lose everything.
The difference between Cedar Rapids Flood & Katrina?
Folks here saw what was coming AND GOT OUT OF THE WAY.
Folks in New Orleans also knew what was coming, but sat with their thumbs youknowwhere, expecting someone else to save them.
*I’m not going to compare looting statistics or post-disaster violent crime rates, as it could be construed as racism.
Tipper and Al just bought a little place in Montecito CA. Probably out there fixing it up.

All Katrina all the time was for one reason only (certainly not compassion). It was that the leftist media realized they could drop President Bush's popularity by ridiculously blaming him for a 'slow' response to the hurricane, when the opposite was true.
Very few people bothered to find out what he really had done. Fox was horrible with Katrina. Just horrible.
For those with Face Book accounts Photos of the Navy Base in Millington, TN being flooded.

Darn straight.
The last Amtrack (free fare, iirc) left NOLA pretty much empty.
A nurse who was working there told me aside from those who could not be moved (patients) and those who were there for emergency services, many of the rest stayed for the looting or to try to protect their property.
Recall people taking plasma TVs when there was no electricity, wading through floodwater...
Hardly a 'necessity'...
this is a reply to everyone reading.. I can’t wait to start at the beginning to read all of this. I realize; times square bomber, oil spill, now-Greece, but this flood is of catastrophic proportion. My sister, lives near Millington likened it to Farrah’s death. I’ll read and reply as necessary. I am disappointed with the lack of coverage.
Thanks to all of you. Will pursue these three organizations. Red Cross is just such a no IMO for many reasons.
The MSM is dying, and what limited capital resources they have left have been deployed in maintaining their bunkers in New York City and Atlanta.
They have systematically shut down bureaus both at home and abroad, and have nothing left to offer except their reputations that are based on what used to be.
With the meager resources that they have left, they are squandering them on protecting their Pyrrhicly-won victory in the government, and on reporting the minor opposition incidents that they are trying to enlarge into damaging career-ending scandals in a last-ditch effort to protect the gains that they destroyed their careers for.
They know their works will be undone in 2010, and overturned in 2012, and are now on seek-and-destroy suicide missions to delay the inevitable.

They don't have the time or resources anymore for the petty run-of-the-mill stories like floods in Tennessee when they have a legacy to protect and preserve.
