You should be mature enough to know that not all songwriters are leftists. However, I agree it’s small change compared with the border war brewing with Mexico and/or the drug cartels.

They support Democrats that steal from us. Why should I care?

Bank robbery is often a violent act (or at least carries the threat of violence). It also results in a (sometimes ink bomb stained) bag of money (ready barter). The other is theft but of something not so tangible and has NO resale value and carries no physical brute force to obtain the goods and no “breaking and entering”.

It’s widespread, but in the past, copyright violations were enforced by the copyright holder, not the State.

The RIAA has gone to wearing flak jackets like the FBI or SWAT and “raiding” flea markets taking bootleg merchandise in the absence of a court order. This is racketeering plain and simple (that they are hassling low end retailers who sometimes barely speak English makes them easy targets).

Then again gangsters have been involved the music business for over 60 years.

logic worthy of your screenname. In fact you contradict yourself at least once in this response and I wasn’t even looking for it.

Go on. Defend violent thugs who hire violent thug performers who then bitch about non-violent criminals claiming that they are a bigger threat than violent criminals.

It’s crime. I do not deny it.

I also know that a copyright violation claim must be raised in court by the offended party, NOT the government. The RIAA is pushing for a special police team like the FBI to be formed (you’ll have to read other articles on this subject to learn that).

My tax dollars should NOT go to protect Big Media which has bought and paid for unconstitutional 100 year copyrights, bought and paid for hit songs for 100 years, and dictated why we should all bow to The One.

By the way every artist you could ever think of will tell you how the labels ripped off the artists of royalties and copyright far more than downloaders ever could.

No badge for the Big Media. Let them file claims in court like everybody else. Scare tactics and hyperbole won’t work.
