To understand why Grahamnesty withdrew his support for the climate bill, I think you have to look at two variables: (1) What the Democrats are up to (2) how this will affect his good friend and fellow RINO John McCain.

The Dem’s had 3 or 4 main goals they wanted to accomplish before the 2010 midterms: (1) ObamaCare; (2) Cap & Trade [aka Climate bill]; (3) Immigration Reform [Amnesty]; (4)Wall Street [Finance] Reform. Because ObamaCare took much longeer than anticipated, now they have to prioritize and rush their agenda — and the Dems KNOW they NEED those new voters — if not by the midterms (and a whole bunch in Congress REALLY want them by November) then at least by the next Presidential election in 2012. So, the Dems called Grahamnesty and broke it to him thusly: “Cap & Trade and the whole climate bill thing will just have to wait, Lady Lindsey — that’s just the way it is.”

Grahamnesty has hardly “seen the light,” so much as “felt the heat.” And the heat is mostly on his RINO pal John McCain, who is facing a tough primary challenge from the Right in J.D. Hayworth, and another challenge in the general election from the Left IF he survives into November. Grahamnesty knows that, if his brand of Moderarate, squishy, compromising, spineless, Republican is to survive to torment the American political system into the future, he has to withdraw his support for his usual causes — like Cap & Trade and Amnesty — at least until his bud John McCain is safely ensconsed back in the Senate and he sees who is reigning as Senate Majority Leader...And which side of the fence he’ll have to fall on before he faces re-election in SC in 2014...

Like someone said the other day, after the cloud of volcanic ash covered Europe:

“If you gave up your barbeque grille to save the planet from ‘global warming,’ you’ve got to be feeling pretty stupid right about now!”
