I don’t think Russia can build empires anymore. Tsar Vladimir’s petro-state is in terminal decline, and Russians are too if they keep pinning their hopes on people like him.
You are probably correct, but Putin is going to do a LOT of damage on the way, and zero won’t have a clue what’s going on or what to do about it besides appease appease appease.
I wouldn’t say Putin ate W for breakfast. W definitely knew what kind of person he was dealing with in regards to Putin. And considering the blunders 0bama has willfully made in dealing with Putin, there’s simply no comparison with anything W screwed up.

Putin will build his empire but it will not be the empire of old—it will be more like sphere of influence. He knows how things work and doesn’t give a fig for international opinion. He can and will use military force to achieve his ends but he would rather use diplomacy (its less expensive). Look to see him involved more in South America—the battleground of the future.

I agree. Putin had to factor in that Bush was strong on his principles and had some very astute advisors. A chip off the Bush 41 block, when he gave a deadline, the enemy knew it was a deadline. As Saddam Hussein found out from both father and son.

He cares about himself. If he cared about his country he would be pushing free markets and creating jobs. He’s in it for himself. The more power he creates for himself the better. If a group in Russia complains and protest the corruption they are called terrorist. You know kinda like here in our country..
