And some stations don't have Ethanol laced gasoline....
“my 2006 car hates ethanol. Its really going to hate 5 more percent of it. And how stupid we have starving people in the world and they are putting our food in our gas tank”
Actually, genxer, your vehicle will experience a “50% increase in the amount of ethanol.”
Great. Less land to actually grow food. I’m sure people won’t mind paying higher grocery prices.
Around here the corn is marketed to the local grain elevator.I don’t know about other areas of the country,or if ADM makes private contracts with larger farms, sorry.
In a few years, this kind of comments would be deemed UN-PC and branded as a hate speech: bigoted against environment. I say this as a sarcastic comment, as you may well know, but I am sure there are environ-wackos out there which think this is actually a great idea.
It should be illegal to use a subsidized staple food crop as a fuel. Of course, crop subsidies should be illegal as well.
They will find the way to force this on folks.
Judiciary and legal profession are stacked with liberals. To them constitutionalists are ‘bigots.’
Just wondering. Thanx!
Put as much ethanol in the gas pump as you like.
Just leave me one pump of straight gasoline, please...
I think this is a corny idea.
ADM has been instrumental in behind the scenes actions to push legislation that either mandates higher corn use or makes other options more expensive. While we can blame the Bamster, they were effective long before Obama was on the political scene.
Did you know Holland has more milk cows than there are in the U.S.A.? Look at a map...
Not only is it stupid, every study I have seen says ethanol generates more CO2 than just plain gasoline. Of course that’s not the point .... vote buying and increasing the cost of fuel, that is the point.
“Put as much ethanol in the gas pump as you like.
Just leave me one pump of straight gasoline, please”...
Bet, the government will place, a $10 a gallon, tax on it.
Ethanol is absolutely the stupidest idea for a fuel ever.
Only new engines can use it effectively, and very few people have lawn mowers, snow blowers, or other small engine tools that are less than 3 or 4 years old. (My own snow blower is 26 years old and running fine.)
Engine makers used to put a tern coating on steel parts in contact with gasoline (fuel lines, gas tanks, gas cans, etc.) to prevent rusting and the subsequent rust particles from getting into the engines. Tern is a lead alloy, ethanol reacts with lead to make a soft powdery floculent soup that clogs fuel filters and ruins engines. And that’s besides the stuff that gets through and into the exhaust.
It’s bad enough at 10%, but 15% is probably over the top.
Even if that were OK, burning ethanol means food prices will go up and food itself will not longer be in surplus and thus will be denied to starving people in other parts of the world.
Another thing to watch from our friends in government. You can store gas for up to 2 years using Stabil...if you have a small engine that hates booze, you might just want to do that.
Then, when most of the country is SCREAMING at the top of their lungs about their destroyed equipment, you’ll at least get thought that phase...and just maybe, they’ll figure out a way to permit 10% again.
The cost is about $0.30 per gallon higher than the ethanol laced Regular Grade.
If the retailers gasoline dispensers have only one hose be sure to pump 2 - 3 gallons into your automobile to empty the dispenser and hose of ethanol gasoline before filling your gas can for the weed eater, chain saw, mower, outboard motor or other small engines.
For each $100 of a repair bill you have to burn over 300 gallons of ethanol gas before the cost of premium is not cost efficient.
What will this do to the engine of my ‘89 GMC Suburban?
We just put a new engine in it.
