While they too are guilty being in the postion they are in...no doubt about it but....blaming the Catholics is easy. I would love to know just how many “so called upstanding” citizens are equally as guilty.

It is why my wife and I have always coached the children while young and always stayed with them while at practice giving them rides to and from events.

A few years back I took a friend’s daughter to soccer practice so I could get some photos of her for them.

Strangely enough not one person asked what the strange man was doing taking pictures of the preteen girls.

I remember some 55 years ago, when was in high school, a number of my friends were on the swimming team and talked about the coach doing weird things to them. Of course I was so innocent I did not understand. The coach was gone the next year.

Parents need to be so much more cautious these days.

It's just the reverse. In the old days, a coach like that met up with a rope or a shotgun, and the problem disappeared. Today, we're more careful and more understanding, and our kids are far less safe. I'd want to be very sure before I acted on an accusation, but if it happened to my kid there would be no point in a trial.

Coincidentally perhaps, I once dated a guy who told me that his Catholic high school swim team coach made the boys’ team practice in the nude (ewww . . .). They suspected afterward that he had some unsavory tendencies.
