There's no shortage of Palin bashers around, but I am definitely not one of them. I've been watching Governor Palin’s career since her campaign for Governor. I'm a big fan. I've seen her in person twice and I've watched video of every major appearance she ever made, including one the televised debates she participated in during the gubernatorial campaign. I know what she can do and I know when she doesn't do it. I also know how badly we all need her to rise to the occasion in 2012.
I believe she is overwhelmingly likely to be the Republican nominee for President because nobody else starts the race with an established constituency. Limiting Obama to one term is of the utmost importance and, whatever anyone may think of her, Sarah Palin is our best, if not our only hope, for making that happen. We need to demand her best and she needs to give it to us.

Don't worry - you're in good company if you like Sarah Palin, think she's critical and at this point irreplaceable, but refuse to cheer mindlessly at every single thing she does. This is a distinction between being smart about politics, or being a "(insert name here)-bot".
Regarding her speech, I can see where she could have smoothed it out just a tad. But the hits she was scoring, and the energy she was working with, counteracted the slight turbulence in delivery.
And, after all, in the words of Theodore Roosevelt, she's the one "in the arena". I'm not going to quibble over slight nits of style.

You didn't misunderstand what you saw. You just viewed it from the wrong perspective. You have to try to see Sarah as a skeptic would see her. Most of the electorate is influenced by the left’s campaign of vilification but not entirely on board with it. The people who suspect that Governor Palin may be a “chillbilly twit” but don't necessarily believe she is one are her (and our) target market from now through November of 2012. If you think yesterday's speech was effective in appealing to that market, you are delusional and delusions aren't going to help us take back our country. Look the world squarely in the face and deal with reality.
