The problem the prosecution faces is that there is no solid law on the books against bullying.” So what the DA basically did was throw a cocktail together of various charges. The first battle the DA has to fight is to show that these charges are relevent to the case at hand. The 2nd battle would be linking them together to prove a pattern of behavior that ultimately lead to the girl killing herself as a result. You may think this is an obvious conclusion, but these things can get tricky in court. There runs a lot of risk of technicalities.
The defense also doesnt have an easy road. They have to try and separate the bullying from the suicide and/or somehow try to show what the bullies did was no different than normal teenager quarrals, that Pheobe over-reacted by killing herself, and that there was no way for them to know she would do that.
A jury is going to have an awful lot of stuff to go over.
Either way, these teens have a record now. Any future employer does a background check, this is going to come up. So this could haunt them for quite some time.
They derve MORE wrath!!! What kind of PARENTS these kids have!!!!
Plus their faces are all over the place. Schools, organizations, potential spouses, all soerts of places. All over the place.
“try to show what the bullies did was no different than normal teenager quarrals”
This stuff goes beyond quarreling. This is sadistic and systematic. Harrassment has been done outside of school too, stalking could be another charge.
Sorry, no sympathy from me. Not one iota. They earned this and need to pay a price. Now that they are on the rec’ing end, they don’t like it. Tough sh!t.
Maybe then, MAYBE, they will get a clue, but I doubt it.
I don’t tolerate bullies because I had to find a way to survive them. Unless you’ve been there, you don’t understand.
I’ve been there, believe me, I’ve been there.
But CHECK THIS OUT!!!: http://www.kaylanarey.com/ It’s bashing one of the bullies, Kayla. It’s wonderful to read the comments.
Unless challenged mentally, 17 and 18 year olds are not kids...
From grade school through Jr. High, I had two extremely persistent individuals.
I swear I don’t know what I would do if I came face to face with them today. 30+ years is a long time to carry the burden of torment.
Firewall blocked, will have to check it out at home.
Thanks.
I look forward to you seeing the things they have written. It shows that people are hopping mad and rightly so. I don’t get why these monsters thought Phoebe was some ‘threat’ to them. All had bright futures, scholarships, acceptance to fine schools. Phoebe would never have been able to take that away even if she wanted to.
No sympathy for these cowards and low lives. BOO-HOO for them. They deserve the same hate that Osama bin Laden, Adolf Hitler, or Joseph Stalin gets.
TOUCHE’!
Interesting how the internet today makes everything permanent and accessible by everyone. For the rest of their lives, any potential employer, friend, spouse, etc. who searches the names of these kids will find them linked to this tragedy. It will never go away.
Another reason I love the internet.
