“No, being 17 and on spring break makes them sometimes believe they can do no wrong and are invincible.”
Speaking from experience, there’s definitely truth to that as well.
The invincibility factor just goes up after years of being told how great you are.
You really are a jerk. Did some football player steal your girlfriend in high school? Get over it.
“Since when did high school students go on binge drinking spring breaks in Florida?”
In the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area- for at least about 40 years. It’s not a bad drive from this area to the panhandle. When I was in high school, most kids saved up money all year long in order to go. I didn’t have the $, and my parents didn’t want me to go. They did allow me to go camping with some guys right after graduation (I was 18 years old). So, we bought vast quantities of beer and went drinking while camping instead of in Florida. At that point, in Ohio, if you were 18 you could buy low alcohol beer (3.2%) which just meant you had to buy more.
Some things have changed over the years: more and more parents are going along and chaperoning (that was unheard of back in my day and now that I am an adult, I think it is a great idea) and believe it or not- there is far LESS binge drinking going on among this age group today, as compared to 32 years ago when I graduated high school. Back in the 70’s, alcohol did not carry the stigma that it carries today.
I think kids these days drink less than we did, but have more sex than we did. Just my observation.
This boy obviously made a terrible decision, and there but for the grace of God go I. He came from a very hard working family; he was not yet a “pampered jock” - though when he got to college, that certainly would have happened.
I must say, I am surprised how few folks on this thread have ever made a stupid decision or had too much to drink. We certainly are a perfect bunch here, aren’t we?
Happy Easter to all. Jesus died for my sins, conquered death with his resurrection, and the gate to Heaven is now open for every one of us.
"This has everything to do with Panama City! The city promotes underage drinking. The police see the kids buy the beer, let them drink it and then bust them later and make them pour some of it out. The kids drive the local economy by purchasing all the alcohol. I did not see one person get arrested for public intoxication or underaged drinking. I was in a room when the police came in, they were laughing it up and having a good time. As a matter of fact, there were Days Inn staff buying beer once they got off and selling it to the underaged kids. Every bar around Days Inn was pouring drinks like they were going out of style. I purchased alcohol at age 18 right across the street from Days Inn. I walked in and picked up 3 24 packs and walked right up to the desk and told the clerk I didnt have a fake because I was only 18. She then stated I should just flash her my ID so that the camera would show that I showed her something. I bought it and walked right outside with police everywhere and did not get stopped once. Panama is a joke city. If the person in that press conference wants to know where the alcohol came from, just walk across the street or ask Days Inn employees."
Good point!
Still laughing!
Some of us aren’t obsessed with hi-skool ball throwers.
Let alone the enablers/purchasers....they're gonna ee in trouble.
No doubt he was enjoying the alcohol for its fine robust taste and refreshment qualities, and not for any intoxicating effects it may have produced.
Satan has had a grip on ND since Obama spoke there.
perhaps all the friends were drunk...
