I don't get this, there has to be more to this story. Public schools are bad, especially in NYC but this? Sheesh.

There are plenty of criminal kids in the NYC school system, and some of them probably deserve to be arrested for their actions. But this was a good example of criminal stupidity on the part of the teacher, principal, and police.
Justice means making the punishment fit the crime. This was an epic failure.

"We want to stop this from happening to other young children in the future," the family's lawyer, Joseph Rosenthal, told the New York Daily News. Yeah, how gallant.
The million is just to cover administrative costs right?

Get some money and loot the taxpayer til.
The city needs to learn from the one and imagine, it will be a young lady providing the instruction.

Arrest a kid for doodling/defacing a desk. But look the other way if they bully a classmate to death.
To: Baladas
Just another reason not to send the kidlets to government schrools.

If “doodling” means drawing gang graffiti, then the arrest is warranted. Many of these “innocent” students are hardened, thieving, murderous gang members, and need to weeded out of schools.

>>”I love my friends Abby and Faith,” the girl wrote, adding the phrases “Lex was here. 2/1/10”
Maybe she meant Lex Luthor..he’s “bad”.
To: CondiArmy
According to earlier stories, she wrote the names of a couple of girls who were her classmates, and said that she liked them. She was just trying to make friends and fit in.

Oh, I just read she doodled her name. Yeah, this was bullsht. She should sue the hell out of school system. They threw the book at her, but probably coddle and hug the “unfortunate” hoods and trash.
To: Baladas
Yet they would give the girl condoms and tell her to “have fun” and provide an abortion.
This country is really going nuts.

Couldn't afford paper? She could have written on a piece of paper (I am sure there is still paper in NYC schools), wadded it up and thrown it at her friends.
We taxpayers buy them books, send them to school, and they still know nothing.
