When I graduated in the 70s we always has prayer at graduation, even in little Berkeley NY. We alternated a rabbi, a protestant minister, and a Catholic priest - the major religions each year. The year I graduated we got the rabbi. Now I am not Jewish but I had no problem with this. Several years ago at a School I worked at the Superintendent (Who claimed to be a chritian) said that the commencment speaker could not mention God, divine plan etc....
The speaker who was a Proestant minister went on to tell the class that the super had told him this and gave the list of things that he was not supposed to say. The Superintendent's contract was not renewed

And, it shouldn’t matter if a judge tries to stop it. Students need to defy any order, pray any despite it and dare anyone to stop it.

The lawsuit filed by the American Civil Liberties Union of Indiana on the 18-year-old's behalf claims that the prayer and class vote unconstitutionally subject students to religious practice. The 18-year-old and his parents would instead prefer to subject the class to a demonstration with a banana and a condom at graduation.
