I wouldn’t count on it.
Here is another article, with similar headline, but the actual article is still ambiguous on it.
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2475537/posts
“Instead, multiple Democratic sources told CNN that they will have three independent votes — a vote on the rule, then a vote on the fix package, followed by a vote on the Senate bill.
The committee was expected to determine whether the House will vote Sunday on a rule that would simply deem the Senate bill — a sweeping $875 billion reform plan that cleared the Senate in December — passed. “
So which is it? If they vote yes on the rule to use “deem and pass” doesn’t that mean that they WILL use “deem and pass”?
Even some Democrats have some humanity. This obsessive quest has ruined Christmas and is threatening the next holiday as well.
I still say it will not pass,
I am praying that you are right.
and Dems will end up hating Obama for his wretched handling of this.
I am sure that you are right about that. The proof will be in November.
Bingo! Once signed .... we'll never hear about health care "reform" again.
This much confusion this late in the game — this can’t possibly be part of the Dems’ plan. It means that they are not yet there.
If they can not shore up their votes soon they are dead. I sense that the effort now is to prevent an all-out downward implosion.
So IF the Senate bill passes, there will likely be no reconciliation bill and that loathsome bill will become law upon the Presidents signature ?
The house will probably pass one, but nothing will ever come of it. The real vote is for the senate bill.
Losing the Deem and Pass strategy stops the leadership from duping their caucus into voting for the reconciliation bill and the senate bill at the same time. They now have to go on record voting for the senate bill. That sounds like a deal breaker to me. If they had the votes to pass the senate bill, they would have done it in January.
No, there are already quite a few states that are taking this to court if it passes. I'm sure they'll be many suits from the private sector as well.
Last I heard 38 states were passing legislation to opt their citizens out of this . . . because they cannot be forced to purchase health insurance (as one of the reasons).
To be honest I believe they are under the assumption you can’t get blood from a turnip. I think most of them would fall under the poverty line for it and will expect to pay little or nothing after the vouchers come in the mail.
I don’t know about you but when Hairy said that it was his honor to work for the greatest Speaker of the House in history, my stomach wasn’t feeling quite right....
I’ve been kicked out of there so many times I’m running out of email addresses to give them to get in again... :)
This is such cr*p that’s coming from Reid & Obama now. Looking at Obama over the FOXNews stream- he looks worried & scared. His voice may not reflect it, but his eyes look very dispirited and he looks, just, mad. Yeah, MAD at the patriotic Americans who are making their voices here there in Washington!
Let’s pray this dangerous health bill never sees the light of day.
Agree.
In a nutshell . . . yes, and the Demon plan comes together.
Well . . . thinking positively, perhaps the Demons will have the good sense to add whatever substances they've been taking to the government approved list of prescription drugs for the rest of us ;-)
“Van Hollen, who has been working on the issue with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), said House leaders concluded that that order — approving the amendments before approving the Senate bill — makes clear that the House intends to modify the Senate bill and not approve the Senate bill itself.”
So if they don’t intend to approve the Senate bill, how can Obama sign it into law?
This is just more Dem shinanigans to confuse everyone.
I honestly don’t think they still have enough votes yet. And it’s all the pro-life blue dogs who are standing in the way. If federal funding for abortions stays in the bill, and by all indications they won’t take that out of any final draft of the bill.
Let’s hope and pray these blue dogs stand their ground and not waver....
Deem and Pass is bad policy/procedural tactic to run an organization under.
Deem and Pass is a way around every article and section of the Constitution and it is NOT ACCEPTABLE.
Deem and Pass is truly only a way to pass something and not go on record as passing it, by individual name. Sort of a group cover dodge, anonymity for politicians.
Deem and Pass is a sneak-around tactic and This rule defeats the intent of our Constitution regardless of who uses it.
Congress should sunset the use of this abomination!
That's my thought too.
You mean that Republicans tried to sign a bill without it passing both houses of Congress? When?
There it is, they have the votes.
