Working as an investigative journalist, he travelled in Indonesia, Brazil, and East Africa. His activities led to his being made persona non grata in several countries[7] and being sentenced to life imprisonment in absentia in Indonesia.[8] In these places, he was also shot at,[9] beaten up by military police,[9] shipwrecked[9] and stung into a poisoned coma by hornets.[10] He came back to work in Britain after being pronounced clinically dead in Lodwar General Hospital in north-western Kenya, having contracted cerebral malaria.

"Sad news: George Monbiot, the high priest of the AGW cult, is feeling frustrated and depressed."
First of all, George...I don't care if you frustrated and/or depressed...welcome to the world in 2010. Everybody is frustrated and depressed right now, it will pass.
IF you are a "scientist" of any standing and qualification, the only change you need make is to start telling the truth. I'm sure there are scientific fields in which your work would be applauded, but science cannot be based on fear mongering and lies. All lies will eventually expose the liar...children are taught this in kindergarten.
As far as your "life's work" being wasted, I've started over from scratch at least three times in my life...one time at 40 years of age...it can be done, and successfully. But you can't sit around on your instruments adn cry about it...nobody likes a crybaby.
Go use your talents for something useful, like finding a cure for heart diseast, finding a cure for cancer, finding obama's birth certificate....something useful.
I know those government grants for "climate research" beats working for a living - I've often wished that I could get paid for pursuing my hobby too, but I'll be 65 this year, and just got a new job, starting next week. I've had a triple bypass and a cerebral hemorrage, but I'm still fighting the good fight.
Besides, it's too cold to be idle...get moving.

They are still going to try and push some of this through the use of the IMF

You know, George, I've found that when your life's work has been destroyed, no one understands you and the whole world seems to be going awry, that a nice glass of sherry and a long nap can do a world of good.
If the first go doesn't do the trick, repeat as necessary. Lovely.
