This is such a Non story
Only an attempt to bash Sarah Palin by the Liberals and Neo Leftist PaulBOts.
Many seniors here in San Diego cross the border to Tijuana, Mexico to have their dental work done cheaper.
You know Sarah Palin is in the lead for 2012.
The Liberals, Neo Leftist PaulBots and the other WannaBies
will keep up the bashing but we the Conservative Republican
Palin supporters will give it right back and expose
the anti Conservatives for what they are.
Well, the original quote was rather out of context. They were using it as a sort of gotcha and once the full text is seen it puts it all in a new light.
I could say “Hitler thought jews should be exterminated”
Headline “Sharrukin says: ‘jews should be exterminated”.
The quote is factually true, but out of context, and therefore false. You can lie by telling only part of the truth.
I agree with your point about the post headline being a fabrication.
Of course they did, that’s what the media does. That’s why quotes are important.
The problem I have is with people who insisted the quote itself was inaccurate, and as “proof” said that the quote would be stupid (and since Sarah isn’t stupid, she couldn’t have said it).
On the other hand, the appeal to “she was 6” is also stupid in my opinion. I’m sure if she had been an adult at that time, she still would have gone to Canada for health care, because it made sense.
And in fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if people in that town STILL go to Canada and pay for health care there, because it’s a big city and they still need a ferry to get to a big city in Alaska (I assume they have better health care in the town now, but Alaska has a lot of small places without the modern conveniences we enjoy in the lower states.
Sarah certainly didn’t say she was ashamed of getting treatment in Canada, or that it was wrong, or in any way suggest it wasn’t normal, and acceptable. So who cares that she was only 6?
Suppose she had gotten ill while in Calgary, and had gotten treatment in a hospital? Would that be “bad” because she doesn’t support government-run health care? Of course not, but these “she was only 6” arguments buy right into the left’s stupid arguments.
Canada has a fine health care system, except that if you live there you can’t pay yourself and you have to wait months for all sorts of treatment. Doesn’t mean the health care they get isn’t good care.
Palin was noting how ironic it was, but nobody really knows what she meant by ironic. Certainly not the interpretation the story had, but more likely just that nowadays Canadians come into the states for care, or that it was easier to get care back then.
I’d like to think that she is smarter than soundbites, and what she thought was Ironic was that people would think it funny that you could be against government-run health care but still say nice things about health care in Canada. It would show that she is much deeper than her enemies, and apparently some of her supporters, think she can be.
She should not have disclosed that. The MSM will lap that up, as it sounds favorable to 0s health care take-over plan.
Sounds like Sarah is developing Biden-itis: The gift for gaffs, aka being a loose canon.

So, what do you think, Rabs? Is it a big deal that Palin’s parents took her brother to Canada for medical attention when Palin was all of 5 years old?
A rational person living in Upperville, which practices a free market economy, where a can of beans costs the end consumer $1.00, will rationally travel over the border to Lowerville, which practices a socialist economy, to buy a can of beans which there cost the end consumer only $0.50, as all citizens of Lowerville contribute to the cost of that can of beans.
This may or may not have been the motivation of Palin’s family, 40 years ago, where geography and distance, as well as national health systems, were a factor.

Amazing after all of these years that she can change her last name, but her rhetoric stays the same.
I think this one rabs is a loser. She was talking about when she was a kid, prior to socialized medicine in Canada. The irony is that they would not do that in Canada today.
