RE: As an aside...I wonder how much $$$$$ Canada will lose by having the Olympics in Vancouver?
Depends on how much they spent on this spectacle.
We can for instance look at the Beijing Olympics as a guide.
According to this article entitled :
IS CHINA THE NEXT DUBAI ?
http://www.theglobalguru.com/article.php?id=284
“Much like little bubble brother Dubai, the problem in China is best summed up in a single word: “over-investment.” Even as U.S. and global consumers are closing their wallets , China is building more steel, more factories, and more malls for which there is almost no demand. Much like in Dubai, many Chinese skyscrapers stand empty, even as whole new cities are being built where the vacancy rates are as high as 75%. One blogger described one of Beijing’s leading malls, “The Place,” as “stunningly dysfunctional, catastrophic... with fifty percent of the eateries in the basement boarded up. There is simply too much stuff, too many stores and no buyers.” Perhaps no project better illustrates China’s dilemma than the spectacular, $450 million Bird’s Nest Olympic stadium, designed to last for 100 years and withstand a magnitude-8 earthquake. Yet, the stadium now stands empty, with paint peeling ignominiously from its slick girders. “You build it and they will come” is a better Hollywood movie plot, than a sustainable development strategy.”
That's true in part. Birth control is another factor, although I don't advocate banning it. Marriage and family is now held in low esteem.
In fact, liberals have brainwashed too many into believing there are too many people for the "good" of the Earth.
European and American history are taught in terms of how oppressive it supposedly has been.
Really, it is no wonder the population growth is waning.
The mortal wounds of many of the nations represented in Vancouver are largely self-inflicted. By increasingly embracing the suicide pact and lethal cocktail of abortion on demand, the assault on the traditional family, the sexual revolution, the devaluing of life, and a departure from traditional religion, to name but a few factors, the Winter Olympics nations competing on the slopes, rinks, and tracks of Vancouver this week have much more at stake than securing medal counts at these or future Olympic Games. The game is called "survival," and the goal is in doubt.
*This* is the point of the article, and I was wondering how long it would take him to mention abortion. He never did state how much of a negative impact that death by healthcare rationing/euthanasia would have on the number of coaches, officials, doctors, etc.
History tells us that every time abortion is sanctioned, euthanasia is not far behind. Although he seems to be on the verge of it, the author doesn't go far enough in his reasoning as to the main causes of the ultimate demise of the Winter Olympics.
Sochi actually has a HIGHER average winter temperature than Vancouver.
Be prepared for an unpleasant surprise.
The internal holocaust, abortion, will eventually lead to the external holocaust, euthenasia.
My next door neighbor is from Russia... she told me Sochi is where people go to swim during the Summer!
gee wow silly me for being inspired at the beauty of the performances and the commitment and talent of the athletes and wholesome spirit of competition among the nations. Now I see the whole thing for the miserable farce it is. Those kids need to give back their medals.
I didn’t mean my post in the way you took it. As a matter of fact, I sent it out to several people, including you, as food for thought.
You may have something there, re the no sports in Obamastan. One of Rush Limbaugh’s topics today was about Obama’s wanting to end sport fishing, and Rush wasn’t kidding.

thanks but I’m on a thought diet.
Since they did such a great job picking Sochi for the Winter Olympics, how about looking at ....let’s say..Haiti for Summer Olympics?
