I would, but about the only thing I listen to on my Ipod is Christian podcast teachings. It sort of would defeat my edification.

carbon fastI'll do that as soon as Prof Jones gets his data organized

the 46 daily suggestions also include eating by candlelight, cutting meat and vegetables thinner so they cook faster and flushing the toilet less often. That's not penance, that's a strange combination of frugality, mother-earth worship and health code violations.

British church leaders are encouraging people to give up their iPods for Lent, instead of more traditional vices such as chocolate, to help save the planet. Some of us have an MP3 version of the Bible on our iPod. Does the Bishop really want us to give that up?
The Bishop of London, Richard Chartres, and the Bishop of Liverpool, James Jones, are among those calling for a carbon fast for Lent
Pardon me, but what "god" does this Bishop worship?

Alright. This "Bishop" is beginning to "weird me out!"

Jesus wasn’t tempted for forty days in the desert to learn how to live more greenly.

One pet peeve of mine is folks that are so engrossed in their iWhatever that they don’t notice whom they are about to walk into. Jesus doubtless approves remembering Lent with a fresh resolution to public courtesy :-)

Giving up something for a week to appease GOD is something that peeves me. If there is something that you should give up for a week to placate GOD, why are you doing it for the other 51 weeks of the year?

Silly, Lent is a 40 day period unless the Episcopal Church has voted to shorten it to a week (and I wouldn’t be surprised).

Sorry, my time figures are wrong, but my premise is still strong. As a protestant, Im not all that familiar with the concept of lent.

Er, all the mainline protestant churches know about Lent. Lutheran, Presbyterian, Methodist etc. As for the premise being strong, yeah it is strong like in stinks. The idea is the commemoration of Jesus being willing to undergo a 40 day period of austere living (actually went without food according to the bible account) by giving up some thing or item of privilege yourself. If you’re thinking of “appeasing” God rather than being sympatico, you’re not even in the same book let alone on the same page.
