Thanks. I was there in either Sept or early Oct after Katrina. The city was still very much torn up and a lot of commercial businesses were still trying to get back on their feet.
So true. I just hope that there is a slow tide turning and that the people of most of the nation see what needs to be changed and does it in the next election. I will pray for a new dawn in America. To hell with the corruption no matter where it comes from!
Hubby’s from Texas - born in Houston, lived in Orange but most of his life in Newton (near Jasper - Piney Woods, E. Texas) most of his family is still there. We own a “spit” of land in Newton and will probably move to Tx when we retire.
We’re heading down in June for hubby’s HS reunion but while we’re there we’re looking at some acreage near Lake Sam Rayburn.
I’d move to Texas in a heartbeat now if they’d build a Nuke plant (hubby is a Reactor Operator) in the Panhandle or somewhere N. Texas - Comanche Peak area is too damned hot for me!!!
Yes and it is better than ever. People are literally stunned at how well things are going here. I keep telling people to STOP LISTENING TO THE MSM!!! People have notions about this part of the country based on what they see in the national news that are totally opposite of reality.
Mitch was not the best choice, but they could have done much worse.
And, you can blame NOLA underclass blacks and conservative whites for electing Nagin two times.
Who can ever forget the crowds Sarah drew during the presidential campaign.
White chocolate city?
Who said Matalin was a "conservative" or even a "Republican"??
I just looked up Hubby’s Aunt’s address - shes in Slaughter, LA.
We come across Rt. 10 when we drive through, maybe i’ll talk hubby into making a detour to NO for a day or two before we head up to Slaughter. Would be nice to go back.
Another Moon Baby running things. Oh great.
LA’s version of the Kennedys.
Were heading down in June for hubbys HS reunion but while were there were looking at some acreage near Lake Sam Rayburn.
You know what the say about East Texans and the Great Lakes?
To an East Texan the Great Lakes are Rayburn, Toledo Bend, Lake Conroe, Stienhagen [Dam B].
Years ago Gulf States Utilities now owned by Entergy Corp owned several thousand acres up in East Texas along the Sabine River in which they planned to build two nuclear reactors. That went by the wayside years ago after the gov’t got so restrictive on the construction standards. In fact they built River Bend north of Baton Rouge and that is what basically bankrupt GSU.
We’ve heard rumors of plans to build N. of Dallas and another plant near Lufkin - not sure if it will happen though Entergy does have an App. in with the NRC.
Given the connections with the current Admin and Entergy, there’s a chance they’ll be “privileged” under Dear Leader to build a plant or two.
Interesting. Thanks for posting. Interesting thread. Thanks to all posters.
The brotehr of the senator?
Man, New Orleans is like a turd that just won’t flush.
Look for the ENEMEDIA to promote the hez outta him in '12.
They'd love to saddle the R vote with his milquetoast appeal.
M-O-O-N That spells Mitch.
Agree with you. 41’s re-election campaign was a joke and then she marries Gollum after the election. I have never trusted her since.
No matter what she says or does, it is only setting us up for the next time. DO NOT TRUST HER!
