Ok, lets say what you are attesting to is true, using the 90% figure (its not but I’ll give it to you for this conversation). The remaining 10% still makes MR a liberal and lds a cult.

OK, you say the LDS church allows its members to take the libertarian stance on abortion.
You say the libertarian position on abortion does not consider the unborn child.
You say MR actively supported abortion. You say that he did not defy his church.
You believe abortion to be morally wrong. You have fought against it.
Why are you staying in (and promoting) a church that opposes your moral views?

If I didn’t love my country so much, the ugliness at FR would drive me away from conservatism altogether. This place really does put the dark side of conservatism on display for all to see.
Not necessarily. There really are people who oppose abortion, but would not use the law to stop other people from participating. Those people are sometimes otherwise good people who would never think of committing such an immoral act themselves, but who haven’t ever considered the humanity of the unborn child sufficiently to motivate them to try to stop other people from having abortions.
Yeah. That’s the big gaping hole I’m talking about between just quietly minding your own business (right for me, maybe not right for you) and actually holding a moral position.
