The bottom line here XL (you don't mind if I call you 'XL' do you? no reflection on whatever your clothing size is, I assure you), is that in the case of Mary Jo Kopechne, a person (Fat Teddy) had the ability to save an innocent woman from a horrifying death, a death of slow asphyxiation, not 'drowning' as is often stated. He had the opportunity to save her and did not.

In the case of Terri Schiavo, lil Fat Boy Jeb likewise had the ability and MANY opportunities to save an innocent woman from a slow and torturous death by starvation and denial of even water for her parched lips. As Wagglebee has pointed out in this thread, lil Jeb was authorized, empowered and had the responsibility to save Terri's life, as she remains the only person in America to be sentenced to death by a judge (Greer), without ever being charged, tried and convicted of a crime. As the chief executive of the State of Florida AND the State's highest law enforcement official, Jeb Bush had ALL the tools at his disposal to rescue Terri from her fate, but just like Fat Teddy, He had the opportunity to save her and did not.

What happened to Terri was a tragedy

It was not a 'tragedy', a tragedy occurs when buses careen off the highway into a ravine, killing everyone aboard, a tragedy happens when an airliner crashes and no survivors whatsoever, a tragedy is when an earthquake occurs causing massive death and destruction, no XL, 'What happened to Terri was one word:

*MURDER*

It should be clear to ANYONE with a room temperature IQ that in both cases, Fat Teddy and lil Fat Jeb failed to rise to the occasion and do the right thing. And that is why BOTH of those bums have innocent blood on their hands.

A tragedy is something over which man has zero control past a certain point (i.e. Nagin could have saved a lot of people before Katrina, but once it hit it was a tragedy; more people would have lived if Haiti had a better infrastructure, but once the earthquake hit it was a tragedy).

There was no “point of no return” with Terri, up until the moment she died Bush could have gone in and taken custody of her, he didn’t do it. Congress could have sent federal marshalls in to enforce their subpoena, but they didn’t (I am unaware of ANY OTHER lawful Congressional subpoena EVER being ignored without consequence as Terri’s was). President Bush could have saved her by Executive Order, but he didn’t. And either Bush could have granted her a reprieve, but they didn’t.
