The guess here is that the data, though seemingly good news for conservatives, is really even a little better than the Gallup results taken at their face value. That’s because the bias of the polls would likely be in a leftward direction, based on the identity of the poll takers. Plus, looking at it from an electoral standpoint, this is a poll of the general population, not likely voters; conservatives, especially this year, are statistically more likely to vote than are moderates or liberals.
