Perhaps the governor did exceed his authority?

If this were the federal level, would we want Obama to have full discretion on what costs to cut without congressional oversight?

I don’t like liberal judges and I don’t like spending but I really don’t like the executive branch to have anymore power than necessary.

Good—better to continue feeding the revenues to the food program than to social program and regulatory meddlers. And best, the default will come sooner! Then...small government. ;-D

she’s the same dumbass who gave a gang member babydaddy
the “sentence” of parenting classes for this...

**Dad is enraged when son wears blue, a rival gang color**

http://www.startribune.com/local/stpaul/70587042.html?elr=KArks:DCiUoaW_eEO7UiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUU

A St. Paul man who ripped a shirt off his 4-year-old stepson and hit the boy for wearing a rival gang’s color won’t have to serve any additional jail time but must take parenting classes before he has any contact with the boy.

Kenny T. Jackson, 30, pleaded guilty in September in Ramsey County District Court to malicious punishment of a child, a gross-misdemeanor.

At his sentencing hearing Tuesday, District Judge Kathleen Gearin stayed 279 days of a yearlong sentence and gave him credit for the 86 days he has spent in custody. The judge also put Jackson on probation for two years.

......another MN ‘tough on crime’ idiot libtard judge.

Tools such as the ability to furlough and the line item veto are going to become very important to all governors who have those tools. I think our president needs the ability to do both, at least impound funds (as Richard Nixon and those before him had) and also to furlough federal employees.

Perhaps Pawlenty can borrow a statement from Andrew Jackson: “Kathleen Gearin has made her decision, now let her enforce it!”

Who will provide for these helpless people if the mean-spirited Republicans have their way?

Judge needs to be impeached, ignored by the Governor, or otherwise removed from office.

I hope he has the guts to say something like “That b!+c# has made her ruling, now lets see her enforce it.”
That would GUARANTEE his nomination for President. If he wanted it.

What’s the judge going to do when the checks start bouncing? Send goons to the mall to shake down shoppers?

There’s more to this than immediately appears. The Minnesota gov has the unusual power to remove budget items after signing the budget, so there is a constitutional issue here.

I bet this ruling gets overturned.
