What exactly does this "increased security" mean? They sent out an email that no one will bother reading? Which hole at the golf course was the usurper notified that Plan #935 failed?
Loser as an engineer and as a human as far as I’m concerned.
I applaude the people that PUT HIM DOWN.
Translation: A terrorist who knew what explosive to pack and what spot on the plane to hit with mathematical precision, but apparently is an idiot when it comes to ignition sources.
Good move by the other passengers to subdue him before he could kill any innocents.
“Good move by the other passengers to subdue him before he could kill any innocents”.
Why?
a good move would have been for the passengers to have pummeled his sorry ass to death.. As it is he is turned over to our Legal system where he’ll get off on some crappola defense.
“...but apparently is an idiot when it comes to ignition sources.”
I was thinking the same thing. I wonder if he was flunking out at the elite London university ?
Didn’t I just say the same thing?
I just used fewer words.
You must be an Industrial Engineer.
Close enough. I’m a Metallurgical Engineer.
Thank goodness his class project didn’t work.
I looked at the time. You and I posted almost at the same time. I think your post sums it up better than mine. It’s a shame to lose such talent to such radical blood-thirsty behavior.
The only 2 countrymen that could bring this idiot down are Americans and Israelis. The rest are sheep.
Lets roll.
I would have preferred they beat him to a pulp as well if I had been there. Still, I’ll take their action over complacency.
enrolled in spite of being on the official USA ‘no-fly’ list? tsk tsk limeys wake up and smell the coffee
True,
Glad some folks got off their duffs.
A Nigerian man, claiming to be linked to al-Qaeda, allegedly tried to set off an incendiary device aboard a transatlantic airplane Friday as it descended toward Detroit's airport in what the White House called an attempted act of terrorism. The man was quickly subdued after another passenger leapt on top of him, others on the plane said, and Northwest Airlines Flight 253 from Amsterdam landed safely around 1 p.m. Friday. The suspect was being treated at a hospital for burns he suffered while igniting the device...
The suspect[,] Abdul Farouk Abdulmutallab[,] 23, attends University College London, where he studies engineering.
Although not on the TSA's "no-fly" list, Abdulmutallab's name appears to be included in the government's records of terrorism suspects, according to a preliminary review, authorities said.
Abdulmutallab has told federal investigators that he had ties to al-Qaeda and traveled to Yemen to collect the incendiary device and instructions on how to use it, according to a federal counterterrorism official briefed on the case. Authorities have yet to verify the claim, and they expect to conduct several more interviews before they determine whether he is credible, the official said.
Federal authorities have been told that Abdulmutallab allegedly had taped some material to his leg, then used a syringe to mix chemicals with the powder while on the airplane, one official said.
But doing so "caused him to catch on fire," Richelle Keepman, who sat a few rows in front of Abdulmutallab, told WDIV-TV.
...
Officials described the device as incendiary rather than explosive, pending tests by forensics experts at the FBI. Incendiary devices generally deliver less of an impact than explosive devices.
a good move would have been for the passengers to have pummeled his sorry ass to death..
Another good move would be to find some “legally controlling authority” to not read him his Miranda rights, but to ask him nicely to tell some nice interrogators everything he knows about alQueda in Yemen, etc.
Icing on the cake would be if the fool actually had a computer in his baggage.
Fox News was all over this story early, and with relevant details, eyewitness accounts, etc., including a no-holds barred estimate from Peter King, republican congressman involved with Homeland Security, who said he wasn’t surprised that Detroit might be involved.
Meanwhile, CNN was playing Larry King. And when they did break in and announce that something had happened in the skies over Detroit, Jeanne Meserve, reporterette, pooh poohed the whole thing. Why initial accounts suggested firecrackers, and anyway it was only one unfortunate and undoubtedly unhinged person with no suggestion whatsoever of terrorist, Al Qaeda ties, or even a whiff of a Muslim connection (let alone ties to a rabid cleric who’d had correspondence with the alledged Fort Hood shooter). She didn’t know the man’s name, either and smirked in a superior manner while the CNN host nodded and told her to keep up the good work and keep checking her ‘sources’. Egg all over CNN’s face.
Oh, and Jeanne Meserve, CNN’s reporterette, said whatever explosive involved wouldn’t have done any harm anyway.
It also sounds like AQ is attempting to bypass normal explosive sniffers by using metals that react explosively to water like sodium.
