The state of MD actually punished me for going back to work .. i took a job at half the salary i was making, just so i could get working again, and instead of getting partial compensation, as my living expenses were still based on my old salary, they denied me any future compensation.. The good is im dealing with it and learning to live with less.. however its still a shame that people get punished for not trying to take advantage of the system.

This seems to be happening everywhere. The jobs just keep crashing.
Who can blame businesses, though? Maybe they're going Galt. Maybe the citizens are having a private protest and not spending. I know I'm holding back. I'm not going to do anything to help bail this government out of the social mess it's created. What ever it is, it all leads back to Oboma and his democrat minions.

The jobs just keep crashing. Wait until this health care boondoggle passes and is signed into law. Small businesses won't be hiring at all because nobody can plan for the costs associated with this bill because nobody knows what is in it. I'm predicting we'll see gubmint unemployment figures in the 13-15% range by mid February.....but the real numbers will be north of 20%.....

Off to Hawaii..he's so magnificent. The Imp Timothy Geitner said job growth 1st qtr next year, even if it isn't true. Just like the Alinskites got to the CBO they wll get to the Labor Department apparatchiks and make it look like job growth even if it is a boldface lie.

I was in downtown Nashville on Monday for a meeting. I had to walk about two blocks from the parking lot to the office where my meeting was held. Along the way a group of bums approached me and asked me for money. I looked at them and asked "What's the matter? Is all that hope and change not working out for you?" Not another word was uttered from any of them after I said that. They were still there an hour and a half later when I walked back by on my way to the car. Again, not a peep out of any of them.....

I think it is reaching a point where economic retribution is the ONLY way. Only do business if you can with people who share your political ideology. Yelling at someone about the esoterics of politics only works so far. Your example is concrete, you left an impression with that guy. When you fire a socialist employee or refuse to do business with a socialists you affect them like no tea party never could. Then learn like my kids, cause and effect, you can;t hope to steal form me and then expect my business or me to pay your wages.

Their whole methodology of calculating unemployment is a sham as is Soetoro's cynical ploy of giving extensions to states above a certain level (Hey!!! ya think the two are related?). I submit that a person unemployed in CT with an "8.8%" unemployment rate is just as out of work as a person in a state like MI with a 15% unemployment rate.
In my case I have been finding temp and part time work so I'm only collecting a partial check. Am I counted? I don't know. In any event, being in construction, I have a lot of friends who can't find work, most of them voted for Capt'n Hope-n-Change. Not one of them is happier collecting a check than working and not one of them thinks we're doing the right thing.

Maybe an inconsistency.
I think the problem could be seasonal adjustments. Seasonal adjustments are based on historical patterns, weighted more heavily towards the recent past. The surge in unemployment last year at this time is used to seasonally adjust this months figures.
That may be part of it, however not counted as unemployed are those unemployed over 1 year and discouraged (a 'fix' put in under Clinton after he signed NAFTA), or those long term unemployed who are not eligible for extended unemployment because of the timing of when they lost their jobs but are eligible for early SS. Both categories are removed from the civilian labor force.
GOVERNMENT ECONOMIC REPORTS: THINGS YOU'VE SUSPECTED BUT WERE AFRAID TO ASK!
Unemployment as counted in the 1980's is closer to >20%.
Meanwhile per PEW ~8 million illegal aliens have jobs, and 125,000 new legal workers are brought into the US each month.

re: Wonder if theyre hiring?
Same thought occurred to me! Seems they have a jump on knowing who is being let go and could pick up the needed help with little trouble.

I have no qualms about blaming the current bunch. They are the ones who campaigned on the theme that they could solve everything. They knew full well what they were taking on and asked for it, in fact lied to get it.
I would like to see Sarah Palin or another non-RINO make a list of the things that are wrong at this point and then provide a plan for addressing each one of them. Make the plans as draconian as necessary and make it abundantly clear it's going to to be a tough series of rows to hoe and if a voter isn't up to the struggle and sacrifice then vote for Obama again, or whoever runs in his place.
I would much rather support someone who has shown he or she has a good grasp of what needs to be done and tells me going into the campaign how hard it's going to be.
Hope and change is great, but it really sucks when it's your only plan, with no idea how to affect it, and then have everything you do just make matters worse.
Sadly I fear the only answer is a complete collapse of the current system. And it will be much worse than we saw in the 20’s and 30’s because we know have a huge part of our population raised to be part and parcel of the entitlement mindset. Many of us in everyday America are poorly suited to take on the assaults that will come from this population when the chips are down. I have no doubt we can learn, quickly, but it's not going to be anything like the black and white pictures we've seen all our lives of life in the Great Depression.

Perhaps the NBC goon has been reading to many IPCC reports on global warming issues and just figures, they can write anything regardless of how contradictory sentences appear.
Don't over tax their simple minds.
