The actual headline is “Who’s More Republican?”. Not, “Who’s More Conservative?”. Would we ever see a headline that asked “Who’s more Democrat” vs. “Who’s More Liberal”?
The voters were that stupid? OMG!
I’m not a Texan but I know two things. Kay Bailey is in favor of illegal immigration, and is not pro-life, while Perry has actually mentioned the 10th amendment. I know who I’d vote for, given that choice. And it wouldn’t be the Senator.
Yeah. That pisses me off too. She adopts the pretense that lying, repeatedly, about when she would leave the Senate -- and still refusing to give a certain date -- is somehow a noble act of self-sacrifice.
Now would be Republican contenders for her seat have to sit on the sidelines with uncertain plans, just when we need every Republican in Texas, and in the country, fully engaged.
You may be confusing the Obama Stimulus with the TARP. Hutchison voted against the stimulus. Among the GOP, only Specter, Snowe, and Collins voted yes. If 2 of those trators had not voted it would have failed to get 60 votes.
Well this Texan will vote for the lesser of two weevils.... (ugh) Perry.
Not so fast. From Cornyn's website:
It's important that immigration legislation protects our borders, promotes economic prosperity in Texas and throughout the United States, and is consistent with our American values of compassion, family, and opportunity. I urge President Obama to reconsider his decision and put immigration reform back on his priority list," Sen. Cornyn said.
What kind of "immigration reform" does he imagine we will get from Pelosi/Reid/Obama?
I don’t know, perhaps it’s in that first sentence.
Cornyn has fought amnesty and shamnesty with strong speeches on the floor - even to the point that he was accused of fighting the Republicans and President Bush. He fought to make sure that the NAFTA regulations on truck inspections and standards, that were agreed to before he became a Senator, were enforced.
It's important that immigration legislation protects our borders,
Sounds good so far
promotes economic prosperity in Texas and throughout the United States,
Some business interests like amnesty
and is consistent with our American values of compassion, family, and opportunity.
"Compassion?" Uh-oh.
And the second sentence, Obama and "immigration reform?" Nothing good can come of that.
You’ve only got supposition as to what it means. Emote much?
True, that sentence is not conclusive one way or another. But read the whole article and tell me you feel comfortable with Cornyn daring Obama to push "immigration reform." Politicians change over time, and we need to keep our eyes open. I believe that, with Dems in control of both houses and a marxist in the WH, we don't need any more new laws.
I am hoping that Cornyn will stop writing foolish (at best) position statements like this.
Sen. Cornyn: Immigration Reform Too Important To Delay Aug 14 2009
U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee's Immigration, Refugees and Border Security Subcommittee, today issued the following statement in response to President Obama's comments that immigration reform is being pushed back to next year.
"Today President Obama backtracked on his promise to address comprehensive immigration reform during his first year in office. After stating several times on the campaign trail that it would be a top priority,' I am disappointed he has changed his tune. Immigration reform is long overdue and belongs on President Obama's full plate.
"It's important that immigration legislation protects our borders, promotes economic prosperity in Texas and throughout the United States, and is consistent with our American values of compassion, family, and opportunity. I urge President Obama to reconsider his decision and put immigration reform back on his priority list," Sen. Cornyn said.
Kinky was in Tyler a couple of weeks ago on the campaign book signing trail. He’s such a 60’s idiot that he actually said on TV that he wanted everyone, including TEABAGGERS to support him.
Regarding our dear sweet cheerleader Kay Bailey, what we need is a Margret Thatcher and KBH ain’t no Margret Thatcher.
Whoever wins, we all should urge him/her to enforce the 10th amendment in order to reduce the damage to Texas by the feds.
This campaign is a good example of the result liberal’s migrating into once great conservative states.
Their putrid stink emanates first from the urban areas and eventually they get their soiled and foul hands on every aspect of the state.
Happened to Vermont now New Hampshire recently. Texas looks like a goner. Lib’s foul their nests and everyone else’s until it get’s to the point where they can’t stand their own mess. So they move on to states like Texas making a filthy nest again. Worse is spineless RINOs hang on for a few elections before the Communists takeover. At that point there is no difference in either party.
Bye, bye Texas. Border states have it the bad, but most of the rest of the states will eventually be in the same situation. Most states are dealing with increasing illegal populations burdening taxpaying citizens in their community schools, business, and hospitals.
First the RINOs come and then the Communists.
If illegal immigration is your main concern... Debra Medina is the candidate who really gets what the root of the problem is:
“As governor, I will work for measures to reduce social and welfare enticements for illegal immigration and to increase border sheriffs and border patrol when necessary, while making sure legitimate commerce and travel are uninterrupted.”
She understands that you can’t have welfare (or much of it anyway) AND open borders... as the former serves as an incentive for people who have no intention of fending for themselves economically (when they get here) to cross the border to receive freebies at yours and my expense.
