How often do "panhandlers" carry Mac-10 machine pistols? That's pretty aggressive panhandling, if you ask me. /sarc
Could it be that this really was an attempted terrorist attack? Considering that Time Square is a high-profile location, especially in this particular location outside a landmark hotel.

This story is clearly BS. Mac-10 machine pistols are illegal in New York City. There’s absolutely no way this criminal could have had one!

They should really ban guns in NYC

Naturally, every law abiding citizen is forced to remain unarmed while law breakers unload their weapons unrestrained except when interrupted by NYC’s Finest.

The scam would likely have been more lucrative if you just pulled the pistol, I would think.

I don’t buy it. Something isn’t right about this story. Scam, Con artists aren’t usually violent sorts, much less armed with such weaponry to my knowledge.

A Mac-10 submachinegun has a rate of fire of about 1100 rounds per minute and is .45 acp. There is no way the perp would have gotten off a 3 round burst, assuming this has a 32 round clip.
Most likely it was a semi-auto Mac 11 in 9mm.
Stupid liberal media strikes again.

It is Christmas.
The 25-year-old suspect had been wanted for assault in the Bronx.(?????????????????????????) Under surveillance?- did they know he was carrying a gun???

I guess these reporters don’t know the difference between plainclothes and undercover cops.

One of those types accosted me the other day as I was motoring down fifth avenue around 55th st or so. I’m almost a little bit offended that the article says they target tourists, as I grew up in NYC! I guess there must be the scent of rural guy now... oh well.
I ignored him as he babbled on about “how I didn’t have to be afraid of black people, dawg!”
Newsflash: I’m not afraid, just not interested in scamming dirtbags like him.

No, that just means he had an open warrant for arrest from a report filed up in the Bronx.
These were plainclothes cops who spotted him and his partner running the scam, approached the suspects, the suspects ran, and this guy turned and fired.
Most of these guys have open warrants.

I thought you guys got rid of the aggressive panhandlers. Ohhh, you mean they’re back under the liberal Bloomberg? Oh well, too bad, so sad, and... me, I am scared of ‘em.
