PARKLAND, Wash. - Emergency personnel are rushing to the scene after multiple officers were shot and killed Sunday morning at or near a Parkland-area coffee shop, according to reports from the scene.
The officers were ambushed as they were at the coffee shop, according to a report from CNN. Up to four officers were killed.
The shootings took place near 116th Street and S. Steele Street in Pierce County at about 8:30 a.m., said Pierce County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Ed Troyer.
“Multiple” officers were hit, Troyer said.
Witnesses said the shootings took place at or near the Forza Coffee Co. outlet at 11401 Steele St. South, just northeast of McChord Air Force Base.
One witness who was driving past said he saw an officer on the ground just after the shootings.
Authorities later closed off the air space over the scene of the shootings.
