Honest scientific practices have pushed aside by the pursuit of cash - specifically government grants. If they can’t proved the “results” the folks running the government want, they don’t get the cash. It will be quashed to keep the cash coming.

And everyone from John McCain to Lindsey Graham were not only on board, but were and remain active cheerleaders for the fraud. Not to mention Newt!

The other missing point is that very few trees show the larger growth rings for the last 50 years. Only a few near the tree line. Trees as close as 200 meters (down-hill) do not have the larger rings.
This is data selection which invalidates the analysis. You would use the same self selecting technique to prove that ESP is real. For ESP you get rid of all the subjects who guess wrong, because they do not have it.

In my college science classes, back when the dinosaurs roamed, and free inquiry was occasionally valued, we learned about something called the scientific method. In the scientific method, one tests one’s theory. One does not set out to prove one’s theory. Proving one’s theory is easy. Just ignore inconvenient evidence.
We also learned that a true scientist doubts his own conclusions. We certainly haven’t seen much of that lately.

When I went to college the last dinosaur corpse was still rotting. I studied physics, so I am very familiar with the scientific method. For a theory to be disproved, it does not take a consensus, it only takes 1 counter example.
The climate research isn't science as much as it is data fitting and extrapolation. Ignoring data that doesn't fit the theory, is very easy.
