There aren’t many games that you play on a level field that are all that much fun.

“There’s no one solely responsible for the development of these students,” Stutman said. “They should all share in the money.”

In this instance, I agree with the man.

AP Calculus, for example, means that the algebra, geometry, trig, and pre-calc teachers in the past had done really fine jobs. Why should one teacher get all the credit?

Completely and utterly off the subject, that woman is wearing the craziest jacket I’ve ever seen.

Unions: Champions Of Mediocrity

“You can think of this as smart money,” Orlov said.

And union dues as stupid money.

I wonder when people who pay to be a slave to mediocrity - and in the case of teachers, are additionaly largely supportive of educational and political systems that force feeds the dumbing down of our nation's future- are going to calculate how much of their paychecks are going to destroy their student's futures.

How many care? Usually all we hear about is more attempts to lower the bar across the board, and that the color of their skin is keeping their brain from working, so for those students, the bar has to be even lower.

Frankly, it'd be a "change" to find that students are suddenly doing much better without having to bribe teachers to do their job.

The 1st incentive should be the kids, but that ain't gonna happen, so it should be continued employment.

If they can't teach, send 'em back to Dairy Queen.

insisting the dough be divvied up among all of a school’s teachers, good and bad.

This is the liberal way. Equal! My son went to a party last week for law class students. There was a young lady there who mentioned in each conversation how Obama would make all things equal. In every topic. When the NCAA was mentioned she said, Obama is going to fix that so there are no winners.

When he told me I could not imagine someone that stupid. Then I remember Obama's equal for all except ME and my thugocracy arrogance.

“Unions only allow promotions on seniority not Merit.”

Yep. The very idea of teachers being unionized is insane.

“there’s no way to accurately judge teacher performance”...that’s the union’s mantra here in MN and everywhere else.

we can put a man on the moon, but “there’s NO WAY to measure teacher’s performance.”

we give away “Teacher of the Year” awards, but “there’s NO WAY to measure teacher’s performance.”

If you saw the movie “Stand and Deliver” Jaime Escelante took 20 ghetto students and before he was done, they outscored Beverly Hills High on the (AP) college entrance exam.

Of course, there is really no way to measure teacher performance ;-)

I remember it well. It was a good movie.

It spawned many bad movies with similar themes including one with Michelle Pfiefer.

I guess another good indicator would be if most freshman college students didn’t have to take remedial classes just to get in.

That’s from the Kathy Lee Gifford Star Trek Line for 2010, now available at Sears.

Then there is the SEIU, which is organized labor for the rest of the government workers. Unionized government. Sheesh.

Before I die, I just want to punch one SEIU thug in the teeth.

Well, I am abandoning most Freepers here and say I admire the union for acting on princple --- their version of it.

In order to be effective, all unions must be steadfastly uncompromising, but also vigilant that excellence is never rewarded, since that would, by clear implication, identify the incompetent members in the membership, which may be an astonishing percentage of the whole.

So, yeah, they've got to oppose this.

On the other hand, I just thought of something that might make union heads explode.

If a member wins the lottery, must he share the winnings with all other union members?
If not, why not?
