I’ve done the NH to Baltimore shuffle, because consulting down there makes the flight both faster, and less costly than driving.

Flying back a couple of years back, they “stole” lots of cans of stuff the wife bought for my birthday gift. Shrimp was confiscated, among other things, but my B+M beans were good to go.

Problem is, no flight, no work the next day, and no pay. Also, although armed at each end of the flight, you’ve got no choices at all.

But ten hours, plus tolls, on the road home, while more comfortable, is more expensive in time and money...

Like playing Army, you do what you have to do.

Last october at Seattle Int AP I was checking a shotgun and handgun. I was told to take my case into a small cubicle. There stood the TSA inspector. A black man in a turban. From Somalia, he spoke no english at all. He Picked up my pistol, looked at it as though he didn’t know what it was and then dropped it onto my 2500 dollar shotgun.

It wasn’t long before the Senior Leadership Team heard my voice. Short story, they got someone in there who knew what to do and had some respect for peoples’ property.

I believe it was Plato...No, excuse me, I mean Play-Doh...who stuck to the wall when he said one must not put one's transvestite in jeopardy. I salute our agents and expectorate the kaopectate of....the mind...to which.....I inseminate the manifestation of masturbation and promise to get rid of my own personal backgammon, so I will I illiterate it.

I travel alot and don't have too many problems with the TSA= I'm not sure what airports the rudeness factor is prevalent. However, it does seem at the smaller airports it gets kind of ridiculous. I recently waited in a long line at Louisville airport where they had only one checkpoint open out of 4. The checkpoint that was open had over 6 people working at it! They literally had someone performing a job and another person to watch him/her perform the job.

That being said. Instead of blaming the actual TSA agents, the blame goes squarely on Bush- who's bright idea it was to federalize airport screeners. That began my dislike of him and his administration. Moreover, it was under his watch that all these cheesy rules went into effect (plastic ziplock bags, 3oz liquids, take off the shoes, laptop in separate bin, show the boarding pass to two people ect.)

Can’t too upset at them, as just about every large company in America has similar BS going on. I know my job does and I don’t work for the government.

They call it LEAN and 5S and assorted other nonsense.

Or better yet, quit flying like I did in 2002 and skip the airport screener BS altogether.

Way to go there defending the airport screeners like they are all just hard-working people doing a job for our own good. LOL!

You are correct that Bush capitulated and signed off on this portion of the bill, but it is erroneous to say it was his idea.

Almost every Democrat in Congress demanded the provision to Federalize (and hence, unionize) the screeners be inserted into that portion of post-911 legislation. Republicans from the Administration and Congress said it would lead to a bloated, brutish, rude, and inefficient Federal airport gestapo, but the GOP leadership in Congress was too timid or weak to stop it. The buzz words of those heady days were "safety", "immediate action", "public good", and "cannot wait."

Now, these clowns are wearing badges that they "made up" so that they would look more authoritarian to a public that was not acting like a beaten dog with its tail between its legs. The badges are a joke, and TSA knows it - they just wanted them to play dress up cop.

It was a huge mistake, and we will be paying for it forever.
