For the price of Guitar Hero and offshoots, one can buy a REAL GUITAR and have money left over for a years worth of lessons.
I’m traditionally a Halo player and I have never done any online playing and not about to because I have no high speed internet access.
I have heard the game was awesome though short, I’m however not rushing to the store to buy it anytime soon.
Two copies were delivered to my house on release day. I have 2 extreme gamers in the house. They have 3 Xbox 360’s just in case one gets the horrid 3 ring of death.
hahaha
Both my boys love this game.
I use the 3rd Xbox on my TV when available in the living room for the Netflix feature. They would never mod their Xbox’s.
They make the game for PS3 also. That’s what my hubby played it on. We are waiting for Assassin’s Creed 2.
I just asked my 14 year old if his Xbox he bought last summer with his detasselling money was moded. He adamently said “I wouldn’t hack it, I bought the subscription. I want to work for Microsoft, I want them to MAKE money.” He connected the dots between the fact that a company needs to make money in order to hire and support employees, which is more than the “hate capitalism crowd” is able to do.
So which is better? PC or XBOX version?

The Netflix streaming on the PS3 is poorly realized. On the 360 (which has had Netflix streaming for about 5-6 months), the Netflix “software” is on the console... just bootup the 360, select Netflix and away you go.
On the PS3 you have to load a disc, which you have to put in the console any time you want to stream movies (so DON’T lose the disc). Also the interface is very clunky. I really don’t see why they don’t integrate Netflix into the Playstation Network.
Yancy
My brother mods everything he buys. Xbox, Iphone, etc. It always bites him in the butt, but he keeps doing it.
His first Xbox died and he couldn’t send it in under warranty. He bought another, modded it, and got the red ring of death last week. He’s got his third box, but I guess at least he didn’t get his account banned.
I’m on my first box; it’s been repaired once and I can tell it’s ready to die a second time. Poor hardware engineering, and I only play a couple of hours per week. I don’t use it for Netflix or anything else, just Halo 3.
My step dad plays online with my brother and me. He’s in his early 50’s.
If you’ve ever played SWAT on Halo 2 or 3, that’s what this new game is like. Basically 1 shot kills. The graphics are more realistic than Halo and the guns are “real” guns. The Halo series is the only set of games I play and I won’t be buying Modern Warfare.
I have heard that Sony had to implement Netflix this way to:
a) get it out quickly. (allows them to bypass certain QA tests)
b) get around Microsoft’s exclusivity deal they had with netflix. So Xbox gets to say it’s the only one with “built-in” netflix
I have heard that the PS3 will have netflix integrated in the near future.
I`ve been lucky with mine so far..they do have a pretty big failure rate.
I dunno - never played on x-box...
but you can’t beat a mouse for control
I have bought two copies, one for each XBox in my house, so the kids can play simultaneously and i don't have to hear them whine about giving each other turns.
Simple, you play guitar hero wearing the night vision goggles.
Which is better, xBox or Playstation 3?
Frankly, I play PC games, but I am tired of having to upgrade my cards every couple of years considering how little I actually play.
Played all the time in college, but barely have time anymore and I’m just married, not with kids or anything!
Regardless, we did get a Wii, and I like it, but of course the console is not for the graphics-intensive games, just the fun active stuff.
I guess I want to play SWAT again, even GTA IV (guilty pleasure....it’s about the massive world experience more than the violence).
Too bad Age of Empires is just on PC, though games like that are more intuitive with a mouse as opposed to a hand controller.
I liked racing games on the PC as well because I could do an okay job compared to a game console. The Wii’s wheel has made a big difference there though and isn’t overly expensive compared to the other game wheels. I love the Wii wheel.
That being said, the controllers for any console are no match for a mouse in terms of accuracy and feel, its a trade off.
Consoles need to be upgraded every 5 years or so too, not as often as video cards but almost as much, people buying an xbox today will be buying a PSIV or xbox 2 in a couple of years.
Of course if you play every day for a few hours you will get quite good in deathmatch play online against others with the controllers but if you play occasionally I would stick to the PC, most good games including Modern Warfare II are available for PC and if you hook up your PC to a large monitor with surround sound you will be getting a comparable experience.
One example, Team Fortress II is fantastic on the PC but almost unplayable on Xbox.
