They’re at half-staff here, and the whole pentagon will observe a moment of silence at 1434 today.

"The president would be the guy to order all the flags to half-staff/half-mast. "

Agreed. BUT, so far, he has only ordered the White House and government offices' flags to half staff "until Veterans Day".

One would assume that the honor will be observed until the end of Veterans Day -- because there is a standing order to lower the flag during Veterans Day.

HOWEVER, as far as I have been able to ascertain, the Embarrassment-in-Chief has not yet issued any proclamation providing guidance (aka "leadership") to the rest of the Nation as to how the flag should be displayed during that time.

I just read on Yahoo that Obama ordered them to half-staff about an hour ago until Veteran's Day.

Well, in his defense, it's reasonable to believe that he doesn't know that there are any other flags other than the ones flying on Government buildings or military installation. I'm quite sure that he's never met a civilian who's owned a flag - expect of course the ones they've purchased to burn - let alone any civilian who's flew it above their home.

Just received an alert that the moment of silence is for all US service personnel worldwide.

If he orders flags at half staff, it will probably be for Ted Kennedy again, just before the House votes on DeathCare.

FYI, the Commander (aka "TXnMA") has ordered the U.S. Flag at this (civilian) installation to be flown at half staff (lighted at night) until sundown on Veterans ("Patriot" in PC-speak) Day.

Of course, that means that other (Texas and POW/MIA) flags (which may not be flown above Old Glory) will also be at half staff during that time,

Thanks for the reminder, I'm going out to lower mine now.
